Elliot Morley’s disgrace complete – thrown out of Privy Council – first for 90 years!

Elliot Morley’s disgrace is now complete, he has been thrown out of the Privy Council, by the Queen no less, on the recommendation of Nick Clegg.

This is the first time in 90 years that this has happened. The last person actually expelled was Sir Edgar Speyer, who was thrown out in 1921 for siding with the Germans in world war one.

In the more recent case of Jonathan Aitken who was imprisoned for perjury, and much longer ago, former  ministers John Stonehouse and John Profumo, all resigned voluntarily to avoid their own further embarrassment and that of the Queen. I must be getting old, I can remember all three!
