Express your dissatisfaction with yesterdays political stunt!

Referendum on the European Union

Responsible department: Foreign and Commonwealth Office

“We, the people of the United Kingdom, are dissatisfied with the result of the EU Referendum Debate on 24 October 2011 and would like the House of Commons to reconsider its decision in light of this petition and grant us an opportunity through a referendum to express our desire on the relationship with the EU.”

It’s about time that the people tell the politicians who is really the boss, us! This is just one such opportunity now open to the networked citizen.

  1. Thanks for the heads-up on this Rothpol, my expression of dissatisfaction has been just expressed re: “yesterday’s political stunt”.

As a matter of fact I believe that most politicans, particularly the Corn Fed Hogs, Muppets and Clowns at Town Hall Towers are “stunts” and “stupid stunts” at that when I judge them by their words, actions and junketing behaviours and how much they suck and bleed from us the hard-pressed taxpayer.

I think that Kenny Everett once covered this reference so well with his character Cupid Stunt 🙂

  2. Or was it cunning stunts?

It just does go to show though, that sleaze is indeed alive and well, and irretrievably embedded in the Tory party; er, or was it Scum Labour I was thinking about? Oh yes, same applies, whichever carriage of the expenses gravy train they’re on.

  3. Europe is still a poisonous subject for political debate!

Those, like me, that are old enough to remember the last time we were allowed to express our views on this subject, we remember, we were told we were part of a free trade organisation and most definitely not any form of political union or Super State!

At the time, I was unconvinced by the yes position and ended up voting no!

I now find recent events and ongoing uncertainty in the Euro-zone very alarming and have caused me to re-evaluate my viewpoint and I must say, the idea that we he should have a referendum to settle the argument in this generation is looking very attractive . Friends of mine, who back the European integrationist view, want a referendum too, if only to clear the political air of this most corrosive and poisonous issue!

Mondays exercise to prevent parliament from expressing it’s unfettered opinion on a motion arising from a 100,000 signature petition calling for a debate was disgraceful! Three line whips, or indeed any whipping at all on ‘Peoples Debates’ is a democratic outrage! For the main political parties to conspire against ‘the people’ cannot be allowed to stand! We can, and should, force them to debate this properly and have a genuine free vote!

Please sign the new Government e-petition to bring this about and tell your friends about it too! It is simple and quick to do, i urge you to exercise this new and important democratic right!
