Tories slip up in Rotherham East!

Information is reaching Rothpol of a mistake made by Mohammed Suleman, of the Conservative Party.

He allegedly, distributed election literature without any information of the printer or promoter!

I do not have to remind readers that the ‘devil is in the detail’ when it comes to observing the sometimes arcane world of electoral law, and so it is in this case.

Complaints, by the way, go to the police rather than electoral services at RMBC, to save anyone a wasted phone call.

We would be very grateful to any reader who has received one of these, dodgy election addresses, for scanning it as a picture in jpeg format and sending it to us so that all readers can see it. Thanks to our anonymous source:

We are also informed that this may not be an isolated example, rothpols readers are also our eyes and ears!

    • Rotherham Politics is grateful for your comment, however you display an ignorance of the provisions of electoral law.

All election materials are required to bear an imprint to identify the candidate, promoter and printer, posters are covered by this, as there is no imprint, this leaflet/poster is illegal and should not have been displayed.

It is not I, that am the idiot!

Rothpol expects this kind of abuse from Labour supporters, it is par for the course. Don’t bring the Conservatives down to that level as well!

  2. TRAMBUSTER…….according to you, the conservatives have broken the law..has anyone been arrested…has anyone been charged..no i didn’t think so either..no offense had taken place, so pleas don’t try to become a lawyer, a judge, nor a jury, your brain cells are not designed for this much prsssure…

JAAN…forget blessing any1’s cotton socks, u just concentrate on getting a new pair of socks, but only if you can financially manage that without breaking the bank,

DAVE JOHNS…nobody is desperate, but don’t worry i’ll send you out a doggy bone in the post as i am sure this will keep you buisy and keep you occupied in your’e free time, but try not to injure your’e right hand as that is what is most precious to yourself as i am sure it gives you much pleasure…

KAMRAN…..i believe this issue is not worth arguing over as you are right, the poster was not distributed, but just merely posted in the conservative party offices which you had full right to do so, unless judge trambuster believes this was breaking the law too….then god help us all…

    • Kamran be grateful for a close up picture as evidence of your observations, it will be published and if there are irregularities then Rothpol’s readers will be able to see it for themselves.

‘Rothpol scums’, have we irritated you? You are entitled to your opinion but I am sure Rothpol’s many readers might disagree with you.

Unfortunately you are wrong on your interpretation of electoral law, try the conservative legal department for advice, you and your colleagues will get in to problems in the future, if you don’t respect the provisions therein.

I repeat, all election materials are required to bear an imprint to identify the candidate, promoter and printer, posters are covered by this, as there is no imprint, this leaflet/poster is illegal and should not have been displayed, anywhere!

You may not like the truth but refusing to follow the law in a wilful manner can lead one into trouble! Have you never heard of Elections Courts?

I have one final question, Why are the Conservatives so arrogant on issues such as this?
