Libraries Consultation? Will this be the usual sham?

Dear Rotherham Friends,

Well the inevitable financial sparrows have come home to roost at Town Hall Towers.

There’s a plan afoot to “change” the hours that libraries are open. In my book I smell a cut coming on.

This teeming and ladling was inevitable as the Corn Fed Grunters, Muppets and Clowns decided to fund their Leedah’s profligate pet project like Dodger’s “Books-4-Babbiz”, aka Dolly Twin Peaks Library, and of course the annual junket known as the Mayor’s Feast, for which the Councillors get a free feed, reminiscent of Mr Creosote.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v29QfOyuZ3Y

Also don’t forget that Dodger’s muckers in the “Independent Remuneration Panel” have continually said that Dodger and his band of oafs should receive more bunce than Sheffield City Councillors, and Dodger’s greed hasn’t felt able to turn down this golden gifthorse.

Anyway here’s news of “consultations” across the Borough. I intend to make my hostility plain to any cuts at all to the library on my manor.
Shush, silence in the Library, please.

It’s ‘Jolly Roger’ – That’s Official!

Thanks to a Labour source, Rotherham Politics can bring you this huge clue why ‘Jolly Roger’ Stone, has maintained a disdainful silence on the most significant issue faced by RMBC in recent years, that of Rotherham’s Disgrace!

We bring you, Roger Stones principal responsibilities, according to a leaked document which states:

“Leader (Councillor Roger Stone)

The Leader has responsibility for international, regional, sub-regional and external relationships.”

There you have it, Roger Stone’s focus is on everything that is, except Rotherham!!!!

Rotherham’s Disgrace – Shabana Ahmed adds her voice to Jahangir Akhtars

Last night Borough Councillor Shabana Ahmed broke cover to bring us this statement:

“I wasn’t intending to comment publicly this early in my political position but since my name has been mentioned along with the other women Cllrs I feel I need to make my position clear.

As a mother myself I am horrified at some of the cases in the media and also the recent case of child exploitation in Rotherham.

As someone who has worked with children and families for the last 15 years I know only too well the devastating effects of sexual exploitation especially against  children.

I am on the  Improving Lives Overview and Scrutiny Select Commission
and although I am a new member I will be making absolutely sure that we are doing everything possible to protect our children and that we are not only implementing all the recommendations of the serious case review as stated by senior officers and we look even deeper in to our processes and protocols to ensure we have systems in place that would flag up any potential risks and then ensure appropriate and robust action is taken to make the potential victims safe and at the same time prosecute the offenders.

Also I will be wanting to satisfy myself that our assessment process via family common assessment framework is robust and we have the necessary systems in place for the early assessment processes  to flag up and identify any  need for early interventions of support for young people and families as a preventative measure thus ensuring the family have the right package of support available, with on going assessments taking into consideration differing needs at different times.”

Shaun Wright – the damning OFSTED report of 2009!

Shaun Wright – the damning OFSTED report of 2009, read the documents here:

Document 1 and Document 2, to return click on your browsers back button.

These documents are cited as evidence by Michael Sylvester in his comment responding to @James, which I reproduce the relevant part:

“If my company wish to measure my effectiveness they have a number of performance measures. In the case of Cllr Wright’s running of Rotherham’s Children’s services we have the 2006 OFSTED inspection which is a good one and 3 years later an inspection whereby under Cllr Wright’s leadership the service is such that to quote OFSTED “the safety of children cannot be assured”

On the question of micro management, over the years I’ve fostered good working relations with a number of officers in the council and that opinion did come from one of them. However not referred too as such but what I would call micro management was a specific criticism of the service and in the list areas for priority action OFSTED stated “Performance management systems and auditing policies do not ensure that local and senior managers are able to fully exercise their decision-making and supervisory responsibilities”

Basically James like any good manager knows get yourself a good team and let them get on with their jobs like the model professionals that the vast majority of those who work in Rotherham Council are.

Cllr Wright led a service where the safety of children could not be assured, our fear now as Police Commissioner he will carry on his record and that the safety of our communities will end up not being assured.”

Rotherham’s Disgrace – the deafening silence continues

Dear Rotherham Politics Readers,

While the deafening silence continues from Da Leedah and Town Clerk on the continuing problem of child sexual exploitation in our Borough, along comes Ann Coffey MP, Chair of the All Party Parliamentary Group for Runaway and Missing Children and Adults, who has authored a wide-ranging and damning report which highlights the present dangers so well – http://www.childrenssociety.org.uk/sites/default/files/tcs/u32/joint_appg_inquiry_-_report…pdf

Family Law Week have produced a worrying, but informative article which explains the background to the report and its recommendations – http://www.familylawweek.co.uk/site.aspx?i=ed98584

And so back to Rovrum and what do we as parents, voters, citizens and taxpayers, get from our well-paid junketing political and civic leedahz, Da Dodger and Rimtan Rembik the Town Clerk?

Zilch, nichts, nien, nyet, non, nahin – nothing at all but – CONTINUED SILENCE.

Wake up, wake up, wake up, you lazy corpulent idling good-for-nothing apologies of highly-paid Elected Members and Officers at Town Hall Towers, the agony of our town’s children continues while you draw your toxic salaries and say and do nothing.

Yours Sincerely,

Grald-Hunter

Rotherham’s Disgrace – Denial + Silence = Culpability

It’s now over week ago since the publication of the serious case review into the death of Laura Wilson, the report made reference to the issue of child sexual exploitation in Rotherham.

It was noticeable that the leader, deputy leader and chief executive of RMBC failed to field any questions from the media, a clear and gross dereliction of their duty.

Their continued denial and condemnation of the issue here in Rotherham from whatever section of the community is totally unacceptable.

However, all is not lost, the deputy leader via his Twitter page this week draws attention to other cases of paedophilia outside of the borough, a pity he hasn’t been so vocal regarding other incidents here in Rotherham, I am not sure what he is actually trying to achieve. probably community cohesion.

We also have silence from each and every Elected Member, in particular why the silence from Councillors:  Hoddinott, Astbury, Ahmed, Dalton, Andrews, Donaldson, Ellis, Beaumont, Clark, Burton, Godfrey, Falvey, Hamilton, Johnston, Lelliott, Pitchley, Russel(x2), McNeely, Whysall, Havenhand, Sims and Rushforth?

From where I am sitting your denial plus silence equals culpability in providing the perpetrators with a green light to continue their evil ways.
A tragic day for our children and a tragic day for Rotherham when our civic and community leaders will not defend our town.

Rotherham’s Disgrace – Free Advice For The Leader Roger Stone

While contemplating the continuing deafening wall of silence coming from Town Hall Towers on the appalling sexual exploitation and grooming of young women and children which is still manifest among our midst, and the huge vacuum caused by an absent, literally and metaphorically, Leedah, I came across this most relevant and apt piece of advice from the world-renowned business guru, the great Tom Peters.

When I watched it I could not help but reflect on the difference of approaches which Tom advises people to follow when dealing with a problem, which is at total variance to Da Dodger’s “tell em nowt rayt, dunt say owt reight, unless it’s abart Dolly Twin Peaks, right”.

Anyway let Rotherham Politics readers work out for themselves whether Tom’s wise words would prove helpful for the secretive, junketing, highly-paid and ineffective Corn Fed Grunters, Muppets and Clowns at Town Hall Towers.

I offer this link as an active and empowered citizen at no cost to the civic purse and as part of my civic duty as a “highly critical friend” of RMBC Elected Members and Officers.

Don Buxton’s final response Today, 15th June 2012

Dear Mr Clark,

May I take this opportunity to thank you for the courtesy of your reply and the information contained therein.

While I take note of – (a) the technical IT problems you have encountered and (b) budget reductions affecting back-office functions, I am very much aware that the said Minutes were TWO years out-of-date, which does somewhat pre-date the current ConDem Government who are doing so much to reduce the financial resource which is available to statutory local authorities for back-office functions.

However, I have no further points to make in this regard, and once again I thank you for the promptness and courtesy of your reply, and I now consider this matter to be closed.

Yours Sincerely,
Donald H. Buxton

Dear Mr Buxton,

In response to your query about why the meeting notes were out of date on the RMBC website. There were some technical difficulties in converting the documents to a format that could be added to the site. The Council has during the recent budget reductions focussed on retaining front line services, therefore, solving this back office activity had not been prioritised. Our teams contact details are available on the website and we do provide minutes of Board meetings promptly on request, as we have on this occasion. I apologise for any inconvenience caused by the minutes not being available online. As you are aware we have now added the minutes to the website up to the most recent meeting and will attempt to find a more permanent solution which allows us to continue to do so. Thank you for bringing this to our attention.

Dear Mr Clark,

Many thanks indeed for your response, and of course your apology is gratefully accepted by me without reservation or qualification.

I look forward to the further information in due course.

P.S. I note with sadness the corporate hogwash item at the bottom of your e-mail, which I have highlighted in yellow, which I find particularly poignant at this point in the lives of our town’s young women with regard to the tip-of-the-iceberg crisis emerging in relation to the systematic criminal grooming and sexual exploitation of our town’s young women.

Yours Sincerely,
Donald H. Buxton

Dear Mr Clark,

Thank you for your prompt response and information contained therein which I shall peruse in significant detail and with considerable interest.

The highly-paid Chief Executive has failed to fully answer that part of my original question which I have outlined in yellow. Perhaps you are able to complete the job that he has clearly failed to undertake?

“Please explain why the meeting notes are more than two years out of date and where I can find the meeting notes for years 2011 and 2012 to present date. Your prompt reply and supply of information will be greatly appreciated”.

I look forward to your further response and information.

Dear chiefexecutive@rotherham.gov.uk

As part of my unpaid community volunteer work I wish to peruse and scrutinise the papers and notes of the meetings of the Rotherham Local Strategic Partnership.

I wished to avoid the use of the Freedom of Information Act and any ridiculous spurious notional costs that RMBC may try to attribute to a citizen’s legitimate request to access statutory information.

I have accessed RMBC’s website – http://www.rotherham.gov.uk/info/10010/partnerships/525/rotherham_partnership/6

and from there I found the following link Notes from recent meetings can be viewed in the Downloads Area.
