ROTHERHAM METROPOLITAN BOROUGH COUNCIL
CASUAL VACANCY IN THE OFFICE OF COUNCILLOR
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN under Section 87(2) of the Local Government Act 1972 that a casual vacancy exists in the office of Borough Councillor for the RAWMARSH WARD of the borough of Rotherham.
An election to fill the vacancy will be held if notice in writing of a request for an election is given to Mrs J Collins, Director of Legal and Democratic Services, Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council, Riverside House, Main
Street, Rotherham S60 1AE by two registered electors.
If no such request is received, the vacancy will be filled at the next ordinary elections in May 2014.

  2. It’s 10 electors and 1 candidate to call an election. If more than one candidate stands then an election ballot takes place. If only there is only 1 candidate then they are automatically elected without an election ballot.

    • It would appear that the rules for ‘trggering’ an election when a casual vacancy arises are different for a Borough Council Ward than for a parish or Town Council seat, I wonder why?

    The locals will have no say in who replaces Wright, keep paying your subs and continue to be used.

  4. Allegedly the shortlisted Labour MEP candidate for Yorkshire and the Humber, must be 1st April, I thought Hughes was a Tory?
