Respect Rotherham Branch is getting organised. The first public expression of this, is the announcement, that Rotherham Respect are to host a public meeting in Rotherham!
Rotherham Respect’s meeting will be at Homeflair, Parkgate Complex, Rawmarsh Road, Rotherham S60 1RZ at 5pm on Saturday May 4th, all those interested welcome!
Rotherham Respect may be contacted through the Secretary, Sarah Kiran Mahmood, by email click here.
We are sure that this will be bad news for some of the playground bullies and village tyrants that hang out in the Lubyanka.
And I hope to be there

Well done to them 🙂 Whilst I cannot wish them luck politically, personally I hope they achieve what they set out to do, met some decent people there. Democracy at it’s best with a variety of political parties.

Democracy is best served when there is free and open discourse between competing standpoints.
Rotherham Politics will continue to cover all aspects of this debate.

Look forward to it Yvonne. Perhaps you or George will respond further to my comment “So much hatred!” to which you asked “Of what ?”
Your party calling itself ‘Respect’ appears to run on hating those who have different views to you. Don’t think Rotherham needs that.

Anonymous, who are the “we” you refer to ?

You must be referring to Asbo, Moofy, their enforcers and supplicants?
To learn that a Respect Branch has formed and even worse Yvonne Ridley is coming to speak, must be a bitter blow to these two miserable specimens, who have done all they could to drive them out.
The strategies employed by these two involve the worst kind of intimidation which will, no doubt, be documented on this blog, if I read the situation right?

Omar need to understand
You have to give people opportunity and a chance by discrediting individuals or their party is not benefitting people in the community.
Maltby Blogger Respect does not hate individuals or anyone in the community, your mistaken by people giving out wrong information, this is something what ASBO & Moofy are good at.

annonymous – George Galloway (leader of Respect party) said, only last night on a live stream from Birmingham, with Yvonne Ridley sat at his side, that he hated Margaret Thatcher. Seems to me that if he announces that publicly about an 87year old woman who has died and not even been buried yet, that there’s something quite unnerving about his thinking. Is that what we need for Rotherham ?

Maltbyblogger, perhaps you should get out more? I would have thought there are many in Rotherham, or even I dare say Maltby, who would agree with George Galloway’s sentiments and once upon a time was a majority opinion in Labour Group as well!

Yes, it makes you laugh! Respect! Galloway has no respect for anyone only himself. Typical of what current Labour stand for. He is Labour through and through and always will be. His comments last night regarding Margaret Thatcher were disgraceful, crass and typical of the arrogance of this twisted man. We certainly don’t want the likes of him in Rotherham, abusing the ethnic vote.

Thanks for the advice rothpol. I do get out regularly and choose carefully who I associate with on every occasion 😉
Are you saying that because many in Maltby and Rotherham agree with Galloway that his comments are ‘right’ and should be accepted as it’s the ‘majority opinion ?
Strange .. …

That’s not what I meant! You are twisting my words.
I make no claims re being a majority opinion today, but it once was within Labour circles.

Agree with rothpol and welcome Respect to Rotherham. While not personally a fan of Respect and deeply suspicious of George’s egocentric approach, nonetheless we desperately need a shake up of the traditional political scene here.
And more choice for some of the many who look at the leadership of our council and despair at the nepotism and crony-ism of Stone’s inner circles.
I believe that Respect will bring a new dimension that will help us break up and encourage the inevitable demise of Stoney’s Cronies.
I don’t include Rotherham UKIP/BNP in this hope for a new politics because when you look closely at the key characters they are simply the B Team of the old politics. The local Labour party’s rejected and thereby embittered.

Anonymous, what are you talking about?!
Who have I apparently ‘discredited’? I wished Respect the best of luck. I suggest you learn to read and understand, not just the former!

Don’t get you.
If it ‘once was in Labour circles’ then that just shows what a disgrace Labour were and still are. No respect for Respect or Labour from me.

MB, are you really suggesting that there was no valid reason why some of us hated and fought against Thatcher and her policies during her time as Prime Minister?

I wish Respect well in their meeting – Rotherham needs a bit of debate and positive opposition

ARR- What I am saying is that when the word “hate” is used in referring to a human being or a group of humans then I believe we have sunk as low as we can. We can disagree, argue, fight against policies and politics but there is no place for hate in our or any society.
At the risk of repeating myself, I believe in challenging and even condemning actions, behaviour and attitudes not the people themselves. This is not being self righteous, it’s just common sense.

Well said MB. The “Disrespect” Party has a leader who is just as bad as any far right group only at the other end of the political spectrum. His intolerance and evil intent is just as bad as the BNP if not worse. If Galloway comes to Rotherham, then I think it is an insult to the people of the town.

Love them or loath them, Respect and especially Yvonne Ridley, strike terror in some quarters and certainly liven things up for us students of politics in Rotherham ?

“Respect and especially Yvonne Ridley, strike terror in some quarters ”
Rather an unfortunate choice of words rothpol in the light of latest news from Boston.
Be interested to know who is so fearful of this ‘party’ and ‘especially Yvonne Ridley’ ?

Thank you for the comments everyone, much appreciated. I would just like to add to that, as this is going to be a meeting held for the launch of the Rotherham Respect branch, it is therefore an opportunity for people of Rotherham to actually come forward and find out what Respect is actually about and it means for Rotherham. For now I will not be responding to anything on here but one thing I will say is that as a young person living in Rotherham I am amongst the masses who are now just fed up with everything ( with the rise of child poverty along with the intro of the bedroom tax, the rise of youth crime along with the increase in youth unemployment, petrol and fuel prices going up along with your ever increasing gas and electric bills, the pension being next to nil and now with the whole country to be in even more debt with such an expensive funeral like we already weren’t in enough of a recession, just to name a very tiny portion of the problems that we are facing today) I personally feel it is more important for us to unite together as whole communities and tackle these issues constrictively without debating over our differences. For me, this is a positive event, not to be associated with any kind of negativity and I would like to see others to come forward and bring forth any ideas they have for a positive change for Rotherham. Actions truly speak much louder then words!
