Private Eye 1341 has some interesting stories, this one especially caught my eye:

And a lesson in humility, I shouldn’t wonder?

Oh dear. When will Rotherham politics stop this old song. What do you expect him to do drive a TESCO trolley and eat out of a bin. Money means the best candidates apply as most will be leaving jobs that provide a good income too. Money well spent in my opinion!

Graham don’t you think this result indicates ‘that you cannot fool all of the people, all of the time!’.
For once Labour voters rebelled, rather than support a greedy Labour candidate, intent on dynastic politics of the most disgraceful and disreputable kind, most stayed at home, feeling unable to vote for Lisa or for anyone else, for that matter!
Money inevitably leads to corruption, not the best candidate! Were it ever thus!

Apart from anything else, the PCC election was a totally unequal contest , not so much for the tories as the Torygraph (link below) says; but more particularly for all the independent candidates for whom £5,000 was a huge amount to have to raise as a deposit.

(No wonder the Coop Bank is in doodoo.)

The real cost of PCC Wrights security was a total of £14,783,32 not £6500.00 as reported
This figure was obtained through the Freedom Of Information Act 2000
I have sent the letter to Roth Poll
He wasn’t very worried about security for himself and his family when he was parading his wife around Rawmarsh during the election was he
But then again we see labour’s upstanding morals, and as transparent as mud.

Mmmm strikes me that if Private Eye thought it worth reporting then Rotherham Politics have an obligation to bring it to a wider audience within Rotherham. Many of whom would be grateful of a job driving a Tesco trolley. As for best candidate just what actual qualification’s can Shaun Wright claim to have for the PCC job? As you require NO qualifications to become a Councillor and Rotherham’s are the best paid for miles around, one might have cause to question whether any of them are ‘best candidates’.
I can think of many things to spend money on and an unqualified PCC is the bottom of the list.
