Back to the future at Anston PC?

All change at Anston Parish Council, where Dominic Beck chairman, was replaced by John Ireland the previous chairman!

Our Dominic must have been adjudged as failing as chairman of Anston PC! We agree with them, at least on this point!

On this subject Dominic Beck has been tight lipped, occasionally retorting to enquirers that he had, “stood aside!”

This inglorious experience should teach him something, but I won’t be holding my breath !

  1. This charade reminds me of the ‘revolving chair’ farce in Russia when Putin stepped aside as President, became Prime Minister and is now President again.
The Labour councillors on APC have learned the lesson well.
    Stitch-up,what stitch-up??

    • Next May 2014 when Anston becomes an Independent Parish council, it will be interesting to see who the Chairman is then. I think Stuart Thornton would be a good choice for chairman, with the thorough and professional way he goes about things.

  2. Dominic Beck stood aside? At the last Anston Parish Council meeting, which began as the annual meeting, Beck had already had a resolution put on the agenda for the normal council meeting. The chairman can not propose nor second a resolution from the chair, because this would negate their ability to stay impartial. They have two choices stand aside and let the vice chair take over or stand down altogether as chair. Beck did neither, if he had stood down he would have had to state to the meeting that he did not wish to be re-elected he did not. Councillor Dalton proposed Ireland this was seconded, councillor Jepson proposed councillor Crowther who declined the nomination; this just left councillor Ireland. Then Beck proposed Dalton for vice chair. This of course was a smoke screen, it left Beck in the position of being able to propose his motion of censure; the problem is that he was still chairman when he had the motion put on the agenda. So what is he to do? He gets his surrogate mummy to get him off, This does two things it allows him to move the resolution and gets him away from the glare of the adverse publicity he has been getting. Without there being a conspiracy to stitch up councilor Thornton mummy Dalton would not have had her little boy kicked off as chairman.

  3. Judy is very supportive of Dominic and every other councillor. I just wish your PMT improves so you can be more positive about the good work Labour are doing in the parish. I will be voting for them again especially Cllr Crowther who is doing a great job. Bravo Team Labour!

    • Please explain what great job they have been doing? Since 1975 Anston has become nothing more than a housing estate with no facilities and central shopping zone.

  4. You idiot! When UKIP go on about immigration they a playing the race game especially appealing to ordinary bigoted elderly conservative voter or younger people, especially in Rawmash, who are to an extent victims of what has happened to working class people in this country over the last few years. They’re jobless and have awful prospects and they are responding violently to what they see as a threat. It’s important to state that immigrants or people from different ethnic backgrounds or religions are not our enemies. UKIP leaders and their cronies are racist and we should see them for the vile people that they are by twisting issues to benefit themselves!

    • Tut Tut! You cannot debate sensibly so you resort to calling me an idiot, is this the best you can do?
‘UKIP leaders and their cronies are racist and we should see them for the vile people that they are by twisting issues to benefit themselves!’ Ah I see, so that is why UKIP gained 154 extra council seats in the local elections a couple of months ago because they bamboozled and conned “elderly conservative voters or younger people”?
Is everyone in your world who is anti-Labour an idiot or a racist?

    • As a Labour member, I find your recent posts both childish and offensive. Your comments about UKIP is insulting to the electorate and voters of Rawmarsh who rightly rejected nepatism and cronyism. The Labour membership in Rother Valley and Rotherham is dying a slow death and people like you are the cause. The arrogance of some RMBC councillors is well known and believe me as a long time activist, the general electorate are turning against a party that they feel does not listen, no longer shares their views or concerns and a party that has turned its back on them. Lifelong Labour voters are going to be looking elsewhere come next May and throwing unsubstantiated claims at the opposition will not cut it! If you are trying to find a job and you are undercut by foreign agency workers recieving less than minimum wage, if you are a self employed builder, with a mortgage and family and are regularly losing contracts to foreign gangers, if you are one of these people you aren’t racist because you look to a party that has the answers to your worries and concerns. Its our party that should be speaking to these people and offering solutions not insulting them by calling them fascists and racist! Walking blindly on whilst complacently gambling that the lifelong voters will stick with us is suicide. Nepatism, cronyism, complacency, arrogance and being out of touch with its core vote..welcome to the modern Labour Party in Rotherham.

      • What a racist you are! Germany for the Germans! I am happy to be out of touch if you are the product. Please learn more about immigration and the true benefits of Europe. I will make it clear that I stay in the Labour Party so bigoted people like might leave. You have to live with your own conscience not me!

      • Graham, your comments below just go to reiterate my point about some elemnents of the Labour Party in Rotherham. Your comments only further alienate real Labour people. If you took time to listen to Labour’s message nationally rather than rely on the self serving leaders of Rotherham’s Stalin State, you would realise that my comments simply echo Ed Milliband’s and leading thinkers such as Maurice Glasman. It isn’t me who should educate myself, it seems as though you need to catch up with the times and Labour Policy. I refer to Ed Milliband’s speech of June 2012 to the Institute for Public Policy Research .

  5. Graham,
You say ” I do not believe that he is violent or we have anything to fear”, then its a bit odd that in previous posts you have personally attacked me by calling me “Rocky Thornton” and you say ” I am not one for rumours” well you must be, because you seem to have listened to others and made your mind up that I am at fault for the events that happened. As I keep saying “take off the red tinted glasses”, there are two sides to every story.

  6. Thank you for enquiring about my Pit Mans Truth it is doing very well thank you. Why do you not address the points I have made about the way the witch hunt against councillor Thornton was conducted by your wonderful Labour councillor. Answer the point about how Beck vacated the chair in order to conduct his vendetta. Answer the point about him abusing his position as chair to put the censure motion on the agenda, when he did this he knew full well he would have to vacate the chair to move it. I do not give a damn about the party they are in I care about the way in which they conduct themselves and Beck and his cronies are political bankrupts. Even the local Labour Party leadership are embarrassed by the goings on at Anston.

  7. Graham says he is a Christian Socialist, since when did Christians resort to name calling and abuse? I am an Elder of the United Reform Church and amongst my many Christian friends none of them use language that includes words like “racist, idiot and bigot”.
Perhaps Christian Socialism does not emphasise the word Christian enough but instead focuses on Socialism.
RotherValleyVoter posted a link to a speech given by Ed Milliband, your recent comments show you are well out of step with your party’s leader. Perhaps you are in the wrong party.

  8. For Sally Kate Taylor to support her claims that ‘UKIP is racist’ she posts links to several ‘news’ items, and all of them highlight a UKIP party member who made racist comments. What SKT failed to do was point out that Farage has thrown him out of the party, unlike Labour MP’s who manage to keep their snouts in the trough.
I take it therefore that SKT does not care about Islamist preachers spouting racist and hate crime bile or Diane Abbott being forced to apologise for racist comments:
    http://digitaljournal.com/article/317335
Labour only has itself to blame for stoking the flames of racism. During its period of government, it set up the now disbanded UK Borders Agency and the Points Based System to bring in draconian controls on non-EU immigration. Their Immigration Minister in the final days was Phil Woolas, who ran a disgraceful racist campaign in his Oldham constituency and was subsequently convicted of electoral offences and removed as MP. Labour’s response to the campaign by UKIP and the Tories against immigrants is to say that it failed to control it sufficiently when in office and should have done more to keep migrants from the new EU states of Bulgaria and Romania out of the UK.

If a person denies clear evidence of racism, defends a racist, and attacks a leading anti-racist institution, is it fair to conclude that they are in fact a racist?
It is a genuine question. The answer in some cases will, undoubtedly, be yes. However, others may find themselves in the position of supporting a racist and denying their racism, and attacking anti-racist organisations: because they believe that a little racism is necessary, in furtherance of a greater political cause. Those people are not racists themselves. They are merely tolerating and facilitating racism, making it more difficult to challenge, giving it an alibi.
