Joyce Thacker fresh insights!

Pinched this from view from the grassy knoll, there is much more on this site about our old friend Joyce and a lot on Common Purpose as well:

Homage to Common Purpose

JoyceThacker

Common Purpose babe ..nasty when challenged

“I have met Joyce Thacker on a few occasions, whilst she was head of Bradford youth service. At the moment there is an a yet to emerge story regarding grooming and child abuse in the Bradford/ Keighley area that is equal to if not bigger than the terrible events in Rotherham (see Anne Cryer MP, who has been vocal on this) Joyce Thacker oversaw the stopping of prosecutions, the stopping of the ‘grooming and let the repeated rapes carry on…they still are going on. She had a reputation with staff as someone who would attack them in a brutal manner if they had the temerity to challenge her. I know that one of her lines was that if staff mentioned abuse by asian men, they would be dismissed for racism. As you can imagine, they were not happy bunnies, as some staff were working directly with victims.
Mrs Thacker has a track record in colluding with and covering up abuse. She should face criminal prosecution for this collusion. She has little professional experience or training in child protection.
In Bradford she left a ‘disrupted,’ youth service and a general atmosphere of fear regarding senior management. I worked for a charity project, and viewed with horror, her actions (in-actions!) and was disturbed when she got the job in Rotherham. Maybe she got the job as she is skilled in cover up, blaming others and dodging the bullets.

A word of warning; Joyce will be swift and nasty when challenged, blaming anyone and smearing them as much as she can. If she was profiled by a psychologist, the report would match that of a sociopath.”

  3. So far, so standard for Common Purpose. Build a network of low empathy middle managers (and now schoolchildren sadly), place that network through nods and winks in positions of authority (particularly in the public sector), get them to act as ‘change agents’ (or ‘bringers of chaos’ to you and me), when scandal breaks (which it inevitably does), move them somewhere else (usually a promotion to another area within the public sector).

A perfect example is Lin Homer – almost destroys the Border Agency and instead of being fired for incompetence, she gets promoted to HMRC to continue her bad work there.

I’m glad to see that blogs like this are mentioning Common Purpose more often these days. If the left and right could shake the fog of ideology from their minds, maybe they could unite against some real villains. Common Purpose have no political affiliations in the same way some of the readers of this blog have, as can be seen by both tory and labour leaderships supporting, encouraging, and promoting Common Purpose here and abroad. Maybe we could take a leaf out of their book, starting by accepting that the left and the right are but two wings on the same vulture as things stand now. The similarities? Their policies (obviously) and their desire for money, power, and control. The differences? The colour of their rosettes.

So no matter who you vote for, what you do for a living, your economic status etc… next time you see ‘Common Purpose’, change it to ‘Common Enemy’ and you’ll be far closer to reality. And we really shouldn’t dawdle; when the Common Purpose run Leveson Inquiry finally gets its way, there will be nowhere left for the whistleblowers to spill their beans. And who will stop the rape of our children then? Joyce Thacker? Don’t hold your breath.

  5. Good post.

What-or who-I wonder is holding back the story in Bradford/Keighley?
Joyce Thacker exemplifies everything that is wrong with both the selection processes for LA posts and the invidious culture that describes Common Purpose.
One needs a radical overhaul and the other should be a proscribed organisation.

  6. I’ve been on the ‘receiving end’ of a few of Joyce’s little rants in the past when questioning ‘a drift from official guildlines” (I am am being polite); she’s not a nice person at all.(Again I’m being polite). Neither are the little crew of very senior managers and executives she surrounds her self with in the Young People’s Services and Human Resources at RMBC. (Are all ‘Common Purpose’? I would like to know how many are)

Now I realsie this site (quite rightly) mainly highlights the incompetence and double standards of local elected politicians but it is essential the people of Rotherham (And the country) are made aware of the non elected officials (like Joyce) that perpetuate the bad practice, falsehood and bullying on a daily basis within their own personal fiefdom. They can’t be ignored and some should be prosecuted. (Fiddling the NEET’s being one reason why – in addition to the Abuse Scandal, Adoption Gate etc).

Regarding the apparent soon to break ‘Bradfaord / Keighly story’. If I recall rightly Joyce received the OBE for “Services to young people. (Bradford, West Yorkshire)”. Well maybe she should give it back? Or have it taken away? It may help save what little credence the honours list still has. (Not much in my opinion). Then again, if OBE stands for ‘Obstinate Bullying & Evasive she should keep it. Well done Joyce – you should be proud of your achievement – after all you have taken Obstinacy, Bullying and Evasiveness to new levels.

Of course it’s not all about Joyce. Just why Mr’s Stone, Lakin, Wright and the rest of the ‘Hear Nowt See Nowt Say Nowt Gang’ persist in protecting this manipulative and self obessed incompetent official defies logic. Unless she knows something we don’t – so to speak. You never know. A Public Inquiry centring on the abuse of power in Rotherham is needed please!

One thing I don’t want to see is Joyce walk away with a full pension and get another job; so enabling her to carry on regardless.. What I personally want to see is Joyce (And others) held to account for her actions, and if seen to have acted in the ways I suspect, sacked.

Over the years Joyce has helped hold back or destroy the careers of individuals that dare to question her ‘ways’. Many have left their careers behind, some have left their careers full stop, while others have simply been forced out by any means possible. Over the years she has made life hell for the front line staff and middle managers alike by dictating policy: even when the instructions conetradicted oficial policy. How she was allowed to do so only RMBC know. However, it’s time for an inquiry in to how she was me thinks.

If you have been unlucky enough to to have worked with Joyce, alonsgide Joyce or just ‘encountered’ Joyces’ style it beggars beleif how she ended up in ‘The Care Sector’.If you haven’t – well done – you are a lucky soul indeed. Personally she didn’t scare me – I can be quite determined – it was just her ‘wierd but not so wonderful personal manifesto’ that did and still does.

What happens in Bradford and Keighley, if any actions materialise that is,like all I will wait and see. But let’s hope the elected officials there are a little more open and committed to child protection than RMBC seem to be. I hope so. For the sake of all chlidren I and families hope so. After all I don’t want a scenario where its “Suffer little Childtren to come unto Joyce.” God help them – whatever diety he or she be.

Ohh – and Good luck to Anne Cryer – she will need it – although she is a rare voice of hope.

    • Thank you for sharing your experiences of our Joyce, painful though, it must have been to recount them.
Rothpol would be grateful for more such insights into this individual who seems spectacularly unaware of her own failings or the responsibility she bears for the current situation in both Bradford and Rotherham.
Either leave a comment as here, or email Rothpol or RikiLeaks, contributors can be assured we will protect their identities from exposure.

  7. Interesteing to note she was one of the six Rotherham Council “Fat Cats” identified in 2010 for having a total package in excess of £135k so she’s probably on more than the PM is this year ??

  8. If this person was employed by Bradford Council then perhaps a few FoI requests will be revealing. For example, were a settlement agreement in place then they would be able to claim an exemption so as not to release it but this in itself would confirm its existence.
