This lot of greedy and lazy oiks, have totally lost their moral compass!

How can they remain silent any longer? There must be some with the vestiges of principle, decency and honour left in the Labour Group? We need to hear from them soon!

In just a few months the Rotherham Labour Party will be expecting to get your vote! A third of those above will be seeking re-election.

Blindly supporting these miserable specimens of humanity, is what got us into this mess in the first place.

Our Town is shamed by the antics of Labour Group, at the best of times, but on this occasion they have delivered us the worst and ultimately, the most costly scandal, that has ever afflicted Rotherham.

Silence and derision, it would seem, is their only response to the people of Rotherham. They should hang their heads in shame!

We must wake our town up and make sure that Labour’s candidates are rejected at the ballot box next May! Labour deserves that ‘bloody nose’ they have coming!

    • I really hate this kind of innuendo about minor politicians.
It always brings to my mind a vision of John Major and Edwina Currie – and that something I really don’t want to have visions about. (Currie – hot? not. )

  1. I know this is a different topic, but can anybody tell me how I find out how much expenses my ward councillors on Anston claim each year? It maybe a good article for a post!

      • I thought they would have been publicly available as per M.P.’s. I managed to find a letter to the Rotherham advertiser from Stuart Thornton, saying it was 13K a year each for the two Labour councillors. I would have thought it was only for expenses incurred in doing the job, but Stuart was implying they were using it to make donations to the Labour party and for publicity to get re-elected. I

      • Regular reader. Thanks for the info. Shocking that Darren Hughes was claiming 21K a year in expenses and our other two incumbents get about 13K. I think the public need a break down, because expenses claimed should only be for carrying out the job and certainly not for their own publicity or for their lifestyle if that was the case.

    How true of the 57!

But Graham, lets face it, the silence of those 57 men and women is deafening and getting louder every day.

  4. The Labour Party has lost its traditional values. But they still expect the traditional vote. I will vote for the Respect party as I feel They hold the same values as the old Labour Party Use to.
So if you want to vote for the old Labour Party , Then vote RESPECT!

  5. Jo Burton and Judy Dalton waffle on at Anston PC meetings without ever mentioning they are also Borough Councillors, perhaps the guilt they carry for being members of The Great Labour Party Cover Up is getting to them………………or………………………………….”If we don’t say anything the voters will have forgotten about this by May next year “.
Believe me ladies (I use the term in the loosest sense) this will run and run.
    Time for change.

  6. Of great concern to Maltby that we have Jenny Andrews, Lauren Astbury, Chris Beaumont, Maggie Godfrey and of course dear Amy Rushforth who thinks she has a hereditory right to ‘represent’ us, all on Maltby Town Council, as well as RMBC. 5 out 57 is pretty good going for Maltby and enough representatives of the public to put the publics views across.
Do any of you women intend to make a statement pretty sharpley on the CSE situation in Rotherham? If so when ? I suggest you do, Its important to all of us and we do like to see our representatives soeaking up for Maltby.fo like to

  7. It seems that quite a few contributors to this blog think the only alternative to the current Labour dictatorship in Rotherham is the Respect party.
I totally disagree, the best candidates, in my opinion, are Independents who are not party driven. They represent the people, NOT the party and do not have to toe the party line when it comes to making important decisions. One of the best examples is Clive Jepson who represents Anston and Woodsetts. He works tirelessly for all the people in his area and with no political axe to grind he just gets on with it.

  8. To be honest these problems started in the mid 70’s when Edward Heath created these big metropolitan boroughs, they were supposed to be more cost effective, but they are way more expensive and provided extremely poor services, with little regard to people. The Common market was created at the same time as the borough and as we leave that, I suggest that Rotherham borough is broken back up into the area’s before the behemoth was created. Rotherham has blown Donnygate out of the water.

  9. It seems the CSE scandal in rotherham has so typically died down. Obviously the shameful 57’s tactic of keeping quiet and it’ll blow over has worked on the Rotherham people. I’ve had an email from John Healey and Shaun wright to say no comment can be made. This has proved my point, it’s not just those in charge that are inactive but the population of Rotherham too.

      • So what are the people of my once proud town actually doing. Never mind watch this space. Once again I am ashamed to have lived in a town I loved all my life. My father worked in the steel works my as did his family. Most of my friends worked in mining. Has what has happened to our once great industries made Rotherham lie on it’s back and let the council tickle our tummy’s and pat us on the head to placate us.

  10. Perhaps Jason, your emails from Wright and Healey are suggesting that a “MAJOR INQUIRY” is underway ?
Hope so. Or maybe this only means that they are so busy investigating themselves that a comment made would be neither productive or informative.
I have not had any replies from my MP or my elected RMBC representatives on this matter.
Your post has moved me to write again, and again … and again …

    • This is all we seem to do. Write again and again. It took Shaun Wrights pa 2 weeks to respond with the exact same comment he wrote in the advertiser. I am sick of the whole apathetic attitude. How could it hurt for the police to tell us in the local press that suspects have been at least questioned, because as far as I am aware the main perpetrators are still driving round in their souled up sports cars. Meaning are our kids safe. Doesn’t look like it to me. I have had friends telling me they won’t get involved in any form of protest for fear of being branded racists!!!! What that’s NOT the issue. DO something about this scandal.

  11. Yvonne Ridley, interim Leader of the Respect Party – most amusing comment but is that all she has to say on the disgrace that is Rotherham Borough Council ?
The thought of Respect as an alternative to the Labour Party makes me shudder.
Perhaps if Yvonne Ridley spent more time in the places where she purports to be an excellent candidate , every time an election comes round, the party might have a little more credibility.
(Also if the party came up with something that they would actually DO in Rotherham)

    • I’m sure out of all the intelligent commentators I have read on rothpol, they could do a far better job than any of our elected leaders. There are definately a few I would pick out. T least they would truly have the Rotherham people’s interests at heart!!!!

  12. @Jason.

Whilst I agree with the main points you make the CSE scandal has NOT gone away nor has it been forgotten.
You ask the question: What are we-concerned citizens- going to do? One of the ways to keep this issue and other issues about Rotherham in the public eye is to continually write to the press, contribute to blogs and speak to as many people as you can about the scandalous and secretive behaviour of the controlling Labour group on RMBC.
Just because there does not appear to be an instantaneous reaction it does not follow RMBC has ‘been let off the hook’. All investigations take time, it is the nature of an inquiry that can be questioned.
If you firmly believe RMBC has sullied the name of Rotherham-as many of us do-you need to hold to your convictions and remain confident the persons who are responsible for the scandals will eventually have to face both justice and the truth.
