From Chris Longley MBE
Dear Rothpol and all the readers of your blog
I just wanted to reassure all of you that I am continuing to examine all the Agendas, Minutes and Reports that relate to the Rotherham Child Safeguarding Board and the Cabinet Member for Children and Young People that I have received under various FOI requests, in themain for 2005/6 to 2009/2010 but also for an earlier period back to 2002 in some cases..
So you will see that these records cover a lengthy period and in very satisfying depth,
Tracing “who received what information” – and “what they then did with what they knew” – is a necessarily painstaking process.
But painstaking or not the process goes on, and when I have established the necessary strands that link the various components of evidence I will make sure this blog is the first to know about those links.
I do realise that some of you feel that this approach is tedious, beaurocratic and far too lengthy. But its merit is that it is an avenue that is actually open.
Given that those in office through those terrible years of dereliction of their statutory duties of care to vulnerable children in Rotherham – and much of the effects of that dereliction is in the public domain for all to see – have never accounted for the lapses over which they presided, some tedium in the pursuit of what happened seems a relatively small consideration.
So I hope you will bear with me whilst I plough on, because ploughing on is what I am doing.
I just wanted you to know.
Kind regards and best wishes to all
Chris Longley MBE
