rr, romanians are already in rotherham , eastwood a ferham are full to burst …. romanians have been in eastwood for the last 4 years .. along with the trouble , ask rmbc how much it cost them to clear up eastwood on a daily basis . page hall sheffield are now having problems with the romanians …inside out last week bbc 1 showed this in detail .

Ronnie, I think you are mixing up Roma and Romanians – just because they sound similar doesn’t mean they are they same. It’s like mixing up Austrians and Australians.

The Roma have migrated to UK from many EU countries.
Whilst there is much publicity about Page Hall in particular, my understanding is that the majority of Roma have so far settled in the South East of UK, not in South Yorkshire – I’ll try to dig up some figures on that – but from a statistical point of view the problem is that Roma have not been booked as such in the statistics – a Roma from France is booked as French not Roma for example.

My understanding is that EU rules have allowed “student, self-employed person or self-sufficient person” Romanians and Bulgarians to come to UK since the countries joined the EU. …. and that has included – for example – self-employed magazine sellers.

You can be Roma and Romanian! There are a lot of Roma in Rotherham who have come from Romania and Bulgaria, ask Roger Stone he’s visited both countries several times to study them. I am certainly not confused about asylum seekers and EU migrants, but Rotherham like this country is full. The Home Office has admitted that the town has more asylum seekers than anywhere else in Yorkshire! I naively thought a genuine asylum seeker would go to the nearest safe country particularly if it had a similar culture and religion, yet these people will cross continents to claim sanctuary here, I winder why?

Most do,when possible – both Lebanon and Jordan have taken huge numbers of Syrian asylum seekers, whilst only Germany in the EU has offered some limited help.

In national terms, there are several towns with smaller populations but higher Asylum seeker counts. Middlesborough stands out with 741 Asylum seekers and a population of 138,412 to Rotherham’s 398 and population of 257,280.

R/R I am aware that Group 4 Security has the contract for placing asylum seekers in Rotherham, but it is the Home Office that has given them the contract and they are abusing it and the people of this town are paying the price for their incompetence. Dave Richmond has said none of these asylum seekers are living in council properties, but even if they are living in privately rented properties they are still receiving Housing and Council tax benefit which we pay for. As landlords of some of these properties Councillors Akhtar and Ali are earning from this. The contract with G4 S should be cancelled.for they have clearly shown they cannot deal with this issue correctly, but ultimately the buck stops with the Home Office!

Rumania and Bulgaria have similar climates to Britain. Italians and the French have a higher GDP than Bulgaria or Rumania so why would you leave a cold damp country to come to Britain instead of stopping in Southern Italy? Or the South of France? Or even Spain?
Simple answer: we are far more generous with state benefits than either of the countries I’ve mentioned.
Both the last dismal Labour government and the current Con-Lib Coalition have failed the British people. Labour because it opened our borders without any restrictions-used as a tool to drive down real wages-and the coalition because it is frightened by Brussels and worried about being labelled as racist/xenophobic by the Left.
If we limited immigration to people with valuable skills who will contribute to our country’s economy and knowledge base we will be much better off than letting every Tomaz, Ricardo and Harriet take up residence.
Why are our politicians worried? Europe will not invade us. The EU will not collapse and the world will still turn.

eastwood has slovaks ,roma , the main problems in eastwood have been caused by slovak and roma , eastwood also has polish . , go and have a look round eastwood ….over the last 4 years its been a nightmare …roger s , refused to come and talk to the eastwood residents , he passed this on to someone else in the council . life has been pretty grim in eastwood over the last 4 years…whos to blame ??, 20 million was spent on eastwood some years back today you would not think so .

These groups will keep coming and I guess it will be Ukraine or some other third world country next. The only ones pulling the strings are the large multinational companies who support globalised sales so no borders to promote cheap labour is a prerequisite I guess. I will be voting for common sense which means I am voting UKIP!

You seem to forget Colin, Thatcher signed the single European Act that brought in free movement of goods, services and people throughout Europe. She was the originator not Labour, and John Major signed the Maastricht Treaty. the European problem for Britain and the rest of Europe is that under capitalism workers will be exploited so big business is happy to allow workers from poorer European countries to come here and drive down wages and living standards. It also means that companies like G4s can push up rents in the private sector. Cameron bleats on about Europe and immigration yet hands out permission to the French company Total to carry out fracking in this country, a thing that UKIP is in favour of. UKIP think they have the answer we just pull out of Europe but they have no real plan for what happens next. They say we could be like Norway, still stay in the single market, Norway pays massive amounts of money into Europe and has to accept any conditions laid down by Europe without any say in it and without having one MEP. Their other great idea is we could form a trade block with the Commonwealth, the Commonwealth will not form a trade block with us after we abandoned them to go into Europe. Besides Commonwealth countries such as Australia have their own trade blocks with countries like Japan and other eastern nations. Don’t be fooled by UKIP they are right wing Tories I will just give you one quote from Farage’s book, Flying High, on Margaret Thatcher. Few can deny that she and her reforms were desperately needed back then.” So UKIP believe in monetarism and a free market economy where profits alone count not people. Workers voting for UKIP is like the proverbial turkey voting for Christmas.

I would not expect you to support UKIP Dave, but in a democracy all parties should have an equal chance. (Having said that both the Tories and Labour will raise and/or spend far more money on elections than any of the smaller parties) As for reforms the question is; why did’nt Blair and Brown repeal the Acts bought in under Thatcher if they are so wrong and hurtful? Because Blair reformed the Labour party as left-wing Tories and he courted big business. Remember Lord Mandy saying the Labour party “does not have a problem with wealth”? Hence the number of millionaires in the Labour party.

UKIP may not be perfect, but the biggest threat to the UK is mass immigration which is eroding the very fabric of our society. On top of getting us out of the EU, UKIP will usher in a democratic form of government. Legally binding referendums on anything we choose as per Switzerland. Something the other three parties refuse to allow.

Don’t want to scapegoat any section of the recent arrivals, but the Eastern European countries who have had problems with Roma for centuries see the EU as a golden opportunity to off load their Roma on to us! The police in Slovakia wii assist any Roma that’s been arrested to come here. They are told go to England it is Gypsy paradise where you will be given a free house and money for not working. This is not anecdotal, but fact. We are simply importing poverty and crime

I saw Question Time and found the Paul Nuthall scarey. Especially his views on the NHS. Indded his observation it needs more competition (Then his silence when pressed) will put a lot of voters off when UKIP come under te spotlight for more than immigration. He also seemed too jumpy and domineering for my liking and had the listening abilities of Godfrey Bloom – non existent then.
I see UKIP as nothing more than a single issue party and far too right of the Tories for safety. They will do very well in the European Elections but in the General Election I have my doubts.
I’m no fan of the tax dodger Farage but he leads his party well. Problen is it is simply the Farage Party.

What I found scary was the audience, as it wasn’t representative of an area as usual. Personally I would like to see me paying 30% instead of 65% tax on every gallon of petrol and have that money back to spend on my own private health care. The NHS is poor value for money and the real costs are hidden in stealth tax’s, rather than NI contributions.

Sorry they don’t, because we the British people never gave the government permission to do this. I am not against a upper limit of 50K of people being allowed to come into the country yearly, however I think this needs to be put on hold for 10 years, to resolve the issues of the last 20.

The 1975 referendum made no mention of immigrants from Europe but the European Communities Act of 1972 (which contains the legislation) was never mentioned in any detail to the British public.
The primary significance of the EC Act 1972 is that (apart from being the instrument whereby the UK was able to accede to the European Union (or ‘European Communities’ as then termed) it enables under section 2(2) for Government ministers to lay regulations before Parliament to implement required changes to UK law (for example, Decisions of the European Court of Justice and EU Directives). It also provides in section 2(4) that all UK legislation, including primary legislation (Acts of Parliament) shall have effect “subject to” directly applicable EC Law.
When Brown signed the European Constitution (aka Lisbon Treaty) Britain lost its sovereign powers.
Unelected judges in Luxembourg were given powers over our justice and asylum system. Asylum claimers can now take their cases to the European Court of Justice.The EU was also given power to set immigration policies for all 27 members and to rule on criminal policy.
The Treaty is “self-amending”, which means the EU can decide it wants more powers and take them without referring to national parliaments. No more referendums or discussions will be necessary.
I am at a loss to understand why wanting to regain and retain our sovereign powers and our currency are seen as retrograde steps.
Opposition to the EU does not qualify me as a ‘Little Englander’ (which is racist because nobody ever says ‘Little Welshman/Little Scotsman or Little Irishman’) a ‘raving fascist’ or a ‘Luddite.’
Because I prefer listening to ‘Jerusalem’ or ‘Land of Hope and Glory’ instead of ‘Ode to Joy’ have I got to go and sit on the Naughty Step until I confess to the error of my ways?
