Jacqueline Thompson has reported on the auditors damning report into two issues at Carmarthenshire County Council.
Vindication indeed!
Everyone who wishes to scrutinise, those who act in our name, owe Jacqui an enormous debt of gratitude for asserting her (and our) rights. A huge thank you Jacqui!
This report has been issued in the public interest under section 22 of the Public Audit (Wales) Act 2004 (the 2004 Act). The 2004 Act requires me to consider whether, in the public interest, I should make a report on any matter which comes to my notice in the course of the audit, in order for it to be considered by the audited body or to be brought to the attention of the public.
She identified the misuse of public money then goes on to say measures must be put in place to stop it happening again. Why not demand the CEO repays the money? Or is that too simple? It’s only public money after all.
Perhaps we can have an auditors report into the misuse of our money by RMBC? The auditors employed by RMBC tell me they ‘act on information given at the time’. No duty of care or due diligence undertaken at any stages of the auditors report.
Why do the words ‘Fudge’ and ‘Whitewash’ come to mind?

One of the only ways to get into this is to assemble a army of Corporate Accountants, Skilled Auditors, and a lie detector then converge on the council at the specified time they have to open their books to the public and go through it with a microscope twice then have backing of a team of lawyers who can take through the courts .
We did have a very limited bit of success on a small scale when we ran Council Watch
But I can tell you they move things round and hide things better than a squirrel does its nuts
