Local Election News – final day of campaigning

List-of-electoral-offences Some homework for all candidates, party workers and agents

The Local Elections are nearly upon us and there is some evidence that labour are concerned at the rise of voting sentiment for UKIP, with the distribution of eve of poll leaflets:

Labour EOP 2Labour EOP 1

If you have some news, or anecdote, from the campaign trail, please leave a comment.

  1. I’m getting so sick and tired of saying this so here it goes….Regardless of what the Labour Party claim, UKIP have no intentions or policies that would result in the NHS being privatised. So they can spend as much money as they like on silly leaflets that say UKIP do. So tear them up, and spread the word that this is just lies and the electorate have been manipulated into a vote based on lies.
But then again what can you expect fom a Party of Lies.
    Labour…
Lied to take us to war in Iraq and Afghanistan.
    Encouraged mass immigration.
4 million immigrants came under labour.
Wages for the working class driven down.
Denied us a referendum on the Lisbon treaty.
Handed control of Britain over to the EU.
Increased the national dept by 550 billion.
Eroded UK rights and civil liberties.
Made 75% of new jobs go to non Uk born.
Created a big brother surveillance state.
Left ROTHERHAM in the state its in today with the most corrupted council and councillors. It’s time for change and no matter how many leaflets they give out the Rotherham electorate aint daft.

  2. Illegal immigrants may be granted free access to NHS
HUNDREDS of THOUSANDS of illegal immigrants could get free access to the NHS and other public services under plans being discussed by Euro MPs.
The Home Office estimates each immigrant costs the taxpayer up to £8,350 a year in health care, education and benefits.
Alan Murad, of the Get Britain Out campaign, said: “Raising a white flag to illegal immigration will only encourage and attract more people to enter the country illegally, without fear of getting caught.
“It is unfair to British citizens and unfair to immigrants who have arrived here by the correct and legal means. This would create an amnesty on female immigrants who arrive in EU countries illegally.
Derby City Council provoked anger yesterday after revealing it is giving £120,000 to fund a programme to help eastern Europeans find work at the same time it is sacking 350 staff.
The plan by the Labour-led authority was described as “straight from the pages of Alice In Wonderland” by one critic.

  3. What have the electorate got to loose by voting UKIP. UKIP cannot take control of the council in just one years elections and a good result for UKIP may encourage the labour group to start acting responsibly and represent the electorate for once. With the exception of Sue Ellis, non of the labour candidates are worth a toss. Lets hope however that Sue is not collateral damage in these elections.

  4. Why didn’t the ‘Advertiser’ print my letter sent over 2 weeks ago refuting these Labour lies?
We know which side they are on!

  5. Jo Burton has been lying through her teeth and deserves to lose her job. UKIP will bring back free eye and teeth checks and the service will be free at point of service, even though private companies may be used to improve services and drive down costs. Haven’t other political parties suggested paying to see the doctor.

  6. Dave Smith in Dinnington has lost my support, as all he does is take cheap pots at UKIP and twists the truth, rather than focusing on what he can do for Dinnington. He sounds like a Labour man at heart.

    • Akhtar had stooped that low that his using his one year old grandson to point to a labour cardboard.
      Desperate to win are we?
Please voters feel sorry for me am that desperate to win and no one will help me deliver leaflets that am using my grandson to deliver them.

  7. I don’t take cheap shots at UKIP I leave that to others, my political opponents in Dinnington are so scared of my campaign that they have spent the last two days going round tearing down my posters and banners. Tim I think you should re-visit my leaflet and tell me where the cheap shots at UKIP are. Then visit Finnie’s leaflet, the so called UKIP candidate for Dinnington, then we can discuss who talks about what they will do for Dinnington. The nearest your candidate gets to talking about Dinnington is to say he is a member of the snooker club. You should also look back at your own comments on this site about me and also the UKIP candidate for Dinnington. When people vote they should look at who really cares enough about their area. I care enough to be out every day posting my own leaflets and meeting people. I care enough to stand in the street and hold meetings with the people of my area. What do Labour do they get some one else to deliver their leaflets whilst they hide away from the people they want to vote for them. Anston has seen more of Jacquie Falvey than Dinnington has. In Dinnington this also goes for the UKIP candidate., with exception of the Anston bit.

    • Dave. You have been twittering stuff about UKIP, making comments on here and I am sure I have read stuff in one of your leaflets about UKIP. UKIP won’t be privatising the NHS, it will be free at point of delivery and eye and teeth tests will be free. Finney is a member of the village club and I understand he has the full support of the club. Personally I think you and the UKIP guy will split the vote and let the Labour person back in. Tim

  8. Jo Burton was seen this evening scurrying round Narrow Lane canvassing for votes. This is practically unheard of; a Labour councillor on the knocker the eve before polling day. This tells me she is not at all confident about her prospects tomorrow. I’ve got news for you Councillor:
If you had carried out your duties with honour and dignity and put your constituents first instead of your party you would not be so despised. If you had did not act as Dalton’s bag lady and St.John’s nodding donkey on APC you would not be in the firing line. Your imminent demise as a councillor is down to you and your malicious attitude towards Councillor Thornton and members of the public who attend Parish Council meetings.
Be under no illusions: Labour will be thrashed tomorrow-and not just in Anston.

  9. Win or lose this has got to be the most intense exciting election I have ever been involved in in the 15 years I’ve been standing And Akhtar has really excelled himself this time by attacking every one in the election with his vile verbal crap even his own party members are not spared his abuse.
But I must agree with a post on here earlier He really is be best recruitment person UKIP have had in this election

  10. The ever loyal Deputy Leader continues to stab his own political colleagues in the back, not content with harming the chances of Sue Ellis`s re-election with his open support of the scab blog, he is now going round whispering out of the corner of his mouth, guess where slim is?
Slim being one of his many, many derogative names for Leader Stone, Slim being one of the more printable!

You should hear the names he has for the three local MPs and certain Labour Cllr`s.

Why the Labour Group tolerates this continued and hostile level of disloyalty is beyond me.

  11. Just what is Akhtar going to gain from telling anyone who will listen that Stone is currently out of town, nudge, nudge?
Is he trying his level best to cause trouble for Stone or just trying to embarrass the Labour Group?

    • Colin I think that is why Kevin Barron has been in Anston, he is frightened of losing his seat next year. There is a revolution brewing in Anston across Rothervalley.

  13. Not only but also..
Labour Party donor and and stalwart of the Labour’s ‘Finance and Industry Group’ (LFIG) Ian Wallace has today announced that he is joining UKIP after becoming disillusioned by the direction the Labour Party has taken. Mr Wallace has called on Labour members to join UKIP alongside him, to vote for them in tomorrow’s European and local elections, and indeed give them support in the 2015 general election.

  14. Dalton refused entry to Anston Park polling station.
She had ‘forgotten’ her authorisation letter as Polling Agent for Burton.
    Oh dear, how sad. Not.
Because she is a (Rotten) Borough Cllr. she thought she had right of entry. How deluded can you be?

  16. Just had a quick look at council election results – UKIP 10 gains but what is most worrying for labour is that in only one ward where they held was their majority more than 200, Gerald Smith won by only 3 votes! Jo Burton by barely 40 in Anston, the Brinsworth candidate by the same and a few others by 60 or so. A disaster, an utter disaster. Repeat this next year and it’s the end of Labour in Rotherham. Jahangir Akhtar also lost his seat, not to Respect, who disappointed but to Maureen Vines! Labour’s days are numbered unless they start pulling their finger out, have a root and branch overhaul of their tired old personnel and start tackling the problems in the town, seriously. Time to listen and act, Labour or you are finished.

  17. So disappointed that the people allowed Jo Burton back in Anston, Conservatives split the vote. Over joyed that UKIP took 10 out of 21 seats in Rotherham and close 2nd in the rest.
