  1. Can well understand UKIP gaining higher scores than others as it has been their main issue and reason for becoming a political aprty in the first place. Still cannot believe that people -many working class -voting for them as Nigel Farage is not for the working class unless you identify with his pro sexist statements and pro smoking ideas along with his -anti working class -racist ideas of only allowing rich forigners in. Why cannot the Us see through Them -Them being the afr right aprties taht come over all giddy and laughing but having a really anti working class agenda. Which oarty was it taht brought about ahealth service that you were probably born in -a housing stock of council houses taht you were reared up in-and an education system that brought about for the first time in british history -education access up to university. Why do you trust a banker finacier who was further right of Thatcher and wants to get rid of a welafre safety net and is mainly apro rich political entity who is funded by the billionaire who built Meadow Hall and like Farage wants to take all the rights and laws that protect you at work and in society in general. Its like turkeys voting for xmas and if you let hate for forigners be your barometer for voting -well you will certainly get and are being stirred up about the isuse of immigration, whilst also voting for the working class enemy-namely the Conservatives-which Farage is further right of any conservative in politics today -and also his deputy NEIL Hamilton who was chucked out of Parliament for having brown envelopes from the guy taht owned Harrods- has invited all ‘decent’ BNP, and the EDL encourages you to vote for Farage and UKIP-then you are like lambs being laid to the slaughter-that emerged as under Hitler in Germany’s 1939s. They say history does not repeat itself-but many who thought that and still do are the ones who are recreating it again. Be careful what you wish for and Be careful where you place your X when voting as the X can easily be turned into a cross!

    • Rotherham’s voters knew exactly what they were doing last Thursday in Rotherham.

      Kicking Labour in the ballots!

Your comment is more than a little alarmist, don’t you think? Labour’s propaganda swallowed whole, perhaps?

The Labour Party is in denial still. Until they change, this will require further repetition, next year?

      • What Maxwell says about Labours achievements is true, but they have done some damage too. Iraq and Afghanistan were not popular amongst traditional Labour voters. Then came the economic collapse. That did for them in the last General election. Since that time Labour has done little to gain back the trust of its traditional voters. In fact the mistrust has grown, as Labour continually ignores what the people are saying they want.
Labours “we know best” nanny state attitude is what really drives people mad. We, the voting public WANT a referendum on the EU, Labour say “well your not having one”, so is it any wonder people voted for the party for whom an EU referendum is a core principle? We NEED to reduce immigration. When UKIPers talk about letting the “right sort” of people in what they mean is skilled workers who will contribute to the economy, not just come over for the free house, nhs and benefits. But of course as soon as someone says such a thing, they are racist neo Nazis. Labour simply will not enter into a sensible discussion on the matter because anyone who disagrees with them is a racist. Well that hasn’t gone down too well with the public.
I am not a racist. I like foreign food. No that’s wrong, I LOVE foreign food. My local shop is run by an Asian family but I shop there nearly every day. And why wouldn’t I? It’s a nice little shop, convenient and I get on really well with the owners. I just happen to think that uncontrolled immigration is a problem, that’s all. And up until Labour started telling me that thinking this way made me racist I was a lifelong Labour voter.
I don’t know enough about UKIPs policies at local level to have voted for them in the local elections. Instead I went with an Independent candidate who I know would have done a fine job. He wasn’t elected, but fought a good clean campaign, focusing on local issues. Labours campaign on the other hand was full of UKIP this and UKIP that. They should have concentrated on how they were going to sort out the mess that is Rotherham.
I did vote UKIP in the European elections. Why? Because Labour says I’m racist for thinking immigration needs to be controlled more. Because Labour won’t let me have a say on Europe. Because Labour want to give more power to the EU to make our laws for us. I don’t want to live in a United States of Europe, I want to live in Great Britain and I want Britain to be great.
I don’t know how I will vote in the next General Election but unless Labour brings about a real sea change I can’t see me voting for them again.

  2. Well said R WILDE,I’m getting sick of listening to people calling you a RACIST if you want to keep all the scum of the world coming here with all their tribes and getting everything free and getting better looked after people who have been born in this country and WORKED all their lives,we have enough of our own scroungers without fetching them from overseas. This as been welcomed by rotherham liebour party over the last 20 years, just look at Eastwood today full of gipsy scum all paid for by the Working people of Rotherham,I was sat in my car at the traffic light on fitzwilliam road near All types Electric at around 3.10 pm one day last week, all I saw crossing the road were all the roma gipsy scum and there were hundreds, some much for Rotherham leibor telling how good and hard working they are for Rotherham, but they still don’t get it and wonder why people are voting for UKIP.

      • Robin, Just because I am prepared to post opinions from all points of the compass, including yours, doesn’t imply endorsement as you well know.
As for being tired of being called a racist, not true, couldn’t care less. For too long that accusation has prevented the corruption from exposure, no longer!

  3. Time for a Change is very hard racists views that do not coincide with the well thought out concerns of R Wilde. Time for a Change exposes himself as a hateful of forigners and the very use of the language and calling anyone scum reveals a very hateful mindset. It is such language that allows the action of out and out racists that has caused the murder of 85 Norwegian people who supported Labour and the recent murders of the 4 jewish people killed in Belgum this week. When you start to call people scum you are either already fascsist mindset and seek to blame all the ills on certain immigrant groups. What is it Time for a Change -do you think you are superior than others via class -gender -race? Why do you hate individuals from a certain group? have you swollowed all the contrived media hype about certain Romanians coming to this country for our wonderfully hyped up ‘best benefit system’ when we are actually one of the meanest. Are you a purcahser of the TORy rag newspapers like the Mail -Express and the SUN? You are the type that makes the claim that its just racists that support UKIP valid but you are torn up by hate and you cannot learn or gain your stated goal for = Time for Change-as your outbursts and demeaning language about others will only bring change that will take us ‘Back to the Past’ where ignorance lead populations by the nose to another Holocaust-again.

  4. Time for a change if you are the change bring back Labour because if your racist rant is the alternative to any kind of council in Rotherham I would rather have the status quo. How the hell do you expect us to call people like you who call people scum anything other than a racist. You are the scum not the people who come here for a better life, they are not to blame it is the system. Our country signed up to the open boarder agreement that allows people to come here, it may not be right but the people who take advantage of it are not scum. You have no rights to call people scroungers because they find themselves at some stage in their lives needing help. I suggest you take your racist bigotry to a sight more suitable to your fascist views.

    • Or… we could accept that Time’s comment was written while he (or she) had a few spare moments under his bridge waiting for the goats to arrive. He got the reaction that he wanted. None of us here know for sure, but I’d be VERY surprised if that was a genuine UKIP supporter.
So here’s a point for the ‘moderator’ to consider… A quick note back saying something along the lines of – ‘Thank you for your comments. Your message has not met Rothpol’s guidelines for comments. Your views are important so please rephrase your comment without use of inflammatory language blah, blah, blah.’ Or some such. It can’t be that hard can it? After all, as the comments policy already states, ‘it is now apparent that Rotherham Politics is in danger from those whose intentions are to damage the credibility of this blog.’ Too right. It’s becoming more and more like ‘the other place’ and if something isn’t done now, imagine the hate filled bile we’ll all have to endure from all sides as 2015’s elections approach.

    • No Dave Smith, your Labour government signed up for the open boarder agreement, NOT the Country. You go and live in Eastwood amongst the Roma Gypsies and see how you like it! I think it’s time you took off your blinkers and opened your eyes on the real world of Rotherham and you might change your mind about these scroungers who are leeching off us.

  5. It is not my Labour party I don’t vote Labour that is why I stood as an independent. The language you use to describe human beings, scroungers and leeches is not acceptable. Just put your self for a moment in their shoes you would also come here, the fault does not lay with individuals the fault lays with governments. I don’t believe in open borders until the whole of the EU has the same welfare and benefits system as we have. It is ridiculous that people who have made no contribution to our welfare state should be allowed to claim the same as some one who has paid. It is also short sightedness for governments to believe that there would not be a reaction to open borders has been seen right across Europe. This does not however excuse people who use racist and reactionary language.

    • Dave. The British people never signed up for open borders, they agreed to to a common market. People have a right to be angry, we have enough social issues from the de-industrialisation of the country in the 80s, without inviting in every waif and stray from across Europe. Your first concerns should be to the citizens of Britain, 2.5 million on the dole. 1.5 million in short time work and 900K 16-24 year old’s with no future, which is only the tip of the iceberg. That is why you didn’t get elected to represent the people of Dinnington and the UKIP guy sailed in. People don’t want the EUSSR here, I have learned the hard lesson, charity begins at home. I think you need to go along to where you come from and have a look at the destruction in Page Hall.

    • You’re unbelievable Dave, you have exactly the same views as the rest of us, but you choose to wrap it up in pretty paper so you are not branded racist as the rest of us are for speaking the truth. This isn’t racist and reactionary language, IT IS THE TRUTH YOU IDIOT!!

      • Why do members of the Anonymous family think it’s ok to hurl insults around? It is clear to anybody that Dave Smith does not share the same views as the right-leaning, UKIP supporters and racists on here. He is clearly at the opposite end of the political spectrum and I doubt he blames all our society’s ills on immigrants.

  6. Dave and I are on different sides of the political divide, however I saw him campaigning in Dinnington, I did not see any other candidates prepared to stand outside the Markets and engage with people and also be prepared to speak to sitting councillors . He did extremely well for himself and 500+ voters thought he was the person they wanted on Dinnington Town Council.
He might have lost the battle but he has’nt lost the war.

  7. Your deluded Tim if you believe that UKIP are the answer to the 2.5 million unemployed and the short time workers or the youth unemployment. They would have us believe that just leaving Europe is the panacea for all the ills perpetrated on the working class by capitalism, it is patently obvious that is not. People like you bleat on about immigration as if this is what has brought our country to it’s knees whilst ignoring your leader’s heroin Thatcher. You ignore Labour’s failure to reverse Thatcherism but your Leader believes she was right UKIP are believers in the free market. They believe that it is right to let the capitalist controlled market decide what is right for the people of this country. If the only pathetic lesson you have learnt in your life is the selfish one of charity begins at home perhaps you need to re-examine your life. Don’t you attempt to give me lessons about Page Hall I have family who live there, Sheffield was decimated not by immigrants but by the closure of steel and engineering factories,it is still suffering now. I agree with you when you say we did not vote for open borders as one who was old enough to vote I can tell you it was not part of the referendum. It is time that this country had a referendum on Europe because it has changed out of all recognition to the one we voted for. We have to get away from blaming individuals for coming here even the Christians made for the promise land.
