  1. I said previously Thacker lied to the HASC and even worse she lied to the people of Rotherham.
The unanswered remaining question is; who is Jacqui Collins protecting? In the two years she has been in her post she cannot deny nothing crossed her desk concerning CSE and Thacker as Senior Officer of RMBC could not have survived in her role without the collusion of Collins and others.
I am not alone in my suspicions about Collins’ knowledge and involvement in the cover up.

    • They do we don’t – I might assume it would be external firms solicitors each representing one party, but any qualified solicitors with RMBC would be involved.

    • It’s inevitable. Paying for getting her to go is a small price, she will never work again, and court cases are quite possibly looming – see the scan of Andrew Norfolk’s piece in the Times – https://rotherhampolitics.wordpress.com/2014/09/23/andrew-norfolk-poses-the-difficult-questions/ .

(I personally believe that Martin Kimber, who honorably resigned immediately the story broke, was and is a good guy. I’m glad that during his notice period he has been asked to work through old files, I think he will do a good job of it, I personally wish him well. {something I’ve wanted to say for a while – but could never find a good context, here on Rothpol] )

  2. RR – Thank you – Paying a small price – added to this will be her “Package,” in total not a small price I imagine. I do agree it is good she has gone. Regarding her never working again, maybe she will not need to!

I look forward to those lower down the chain being brought to book. There are 4 in Anston who had to know what was happening.

  3. The ripples from the stone in this particular pond of filth are spreading even wider. It is not beyond the realms of possibility that several Labour councillors will not contest their seats next May. I will not shed any tears if and when they go.

    • Not being a prophet or a polling organisation I can only offer my best ‘guesstimate’.
Burton. Brindley. St.John. Smith (G).Shaukat Ali.
I could be wrong but the stench from Labour controlled RMBC will overwhelm Labour candidates and some of them probably think it is better not to stand than to suffer further humiliation at the ballot box.

    • Is that the Labour majorities from last year’s council election listed in descending order? It doesn’t represent a trend or anything much imho. .

      • Hi RR. These are the majorities of the Labour candidates in 2014 in the 11 seats they held. Personal factors of the next round of candidates may, of course, adjust people’s voting patterns.
But the trend is that most of these seats, in the not too distant past, were rock-solid safe Labour holds.
This was before the Jay report and the resultant paralysis and self doubt now gripping Rotherham Labour. I would be amazed if the 5 with the thinnest majorities didn’t go.

  4. G Smith is up for election in Aston Parish Council , he is safe for another 3 years plus at RMBC unless he decides to call it a day now that he has lost his power base and cabinet supporters

    • I’m in Aston parish, and came across Smith when I was deeply involved in the objections to the suggested routes for the Waverley Link road – it’s also the first time I met Cllr Swift. It was the only time in my life I have ever questioned my life long support for the Labour Party. Both Smith and Swift utterly disgust me.
Unfortunately Hilda Jacks – de-selected by Rotherham Labour still attempts to stand as an Independent in both Parish and Council elections. Some people tell me she has some real virtues – but having sat with her on one committee, I simply have no idea what they are. And her standing in elections splits the non Labour vote,
