Communication Breakdown

Last week at Eastwood Mosque a digger started work, digging foundations.

mosque 2 001

Unfortunately this concerned local residents as they had received no warning that this activity would commence.

A phone call to the Council revealed they also were unaware of this!

Then it later became apparent, this work had received planning approval quite some time ago! Planning No RB2012/0573  an extension to the mosque on Russell Street. Much embarrassment all round in Planning?

Communication breakdown indeed?

All of this could easily have been different, If the Mosque Authorities had taken the simple precaution of letting the Council know they were commencing the building phase and have let the local residents know in advance!

That simple courtesy, would have prevented the local concerns this caused, and I thought the Council has to be informed before commencement, in order to arrange the necessary and legally required, inspections of operations to take place?

  1. This application was given conditional approval! Wonder what the conditions were, and are they going to be fully observed? Not exactly demanding questions, but there is some doubt the conditions are being addressed?

  3. So it would appear that condition no 3 ” materials ” should have been submitted to the planning dept and approved in writing prior to any development, and building control should have been formally notified prior to any commencement of works. So there is no reasopn for any confusion from RMBC !

  4. I have been informed by my source that the only time the Mosque becomes full is twice in th eye ar during their Eid celebrations.
I asked how many children they have during religious classes and they tell me that only a hand full at the most.
Can anyone who attends confirm this.
So who are they building for?

    • Rotherham Politics has to enforce part of our conditions concerning registration of those who comment on this blog. Put simply, this is how to both register and preserve the confidentiality you may require.

      1. Choose an identity, best to keep it short.

      2. Email Rothpol putting register in the subject line and your chosen identity in the body text.

      3. When you receive a confirmatory email, you will then be able to comment freely.

Rotherham Politics is a moderated blog , comments are published at the discretion of the moderator. This doesn’t equate to censorship, as Rothpol is prepared to publish comments that are adding to the debate, even if critical of Rotherham Politics!

No one needs to reveal their identity, all Rothpol is asking is to be able to tell everyone apart, nothing else!

Simply use a pseudonym, get a free email account in that name and use it to establish two way communication with me. Hushmail, is both free and secure, and is to be recommended.”

  5. The photo indicates that works ‘in the highway’ are also taking place, which is of course another ‘statutory’ aspect to the affair!!!
