If you are victim too?

Local help is at hand for victims and their families

Rotherham Politics

I republish this to provide contact information that may be useful to victims and their families:

No one, listening to ‘Jessica’s’ story on BBC Radio 5Live, could fail to have been moved by her experiences.

Jessica, it transpires from her own testimony, didn’t realise she had been the victim of grooming and sexual exploitation until quite recently and is determined to secure some justice by entering litigation, backed by a sympathetic team, headed up by David Greenwood of Switalskis solicitors.

Are you a victim or a victim’s parent who would like to contact David? They are close at hand, ring 01709 890400 and you will be sure of a sympathetic and…

  1. must be a racist. rotherham labour party terminology for a racist is anybody who believes lawbreakers should be prosecuted whatever race or creed on said:

reference the victims of this appaling shaming episode that has upset every law abiding citizen of Rotherham, what would the people think to setting up a charity to fund these girls legal fight and explore the possibility of if they can prove dereliction of duty in public office they should be made to be financialy responsible for their actions.

    • One couldn’t set up a charity for such a purpose, but their legal representatives could set up a fund using something like justgiving.com. What one first needs to talk to their solicitors to see where things now – they will probably applied for Legal AId.

    • Prof Jay said: “No-one knows the true scale of child sexual exploitation in Rotherham over the years. Our conservative estimate is that approximately 1,400 children were sexually exploited over the full inquiry period, from 1997 to 2013.”
Professor Jay may not be a statistician, but if “the real total could be double that” then you are accusing her of something close to wild guesswork.

      • The report states

“Taking all these sources together, the Inquiry concluded that at least 1400 children were sexually exploited between 1997 and 2013. This is likely to be a conservative estimate of the true scale of the problem.”

So the 1400 is a minimum figure, during evidence to the HOC Select Committee I recall Prof Jay saying the figure could be double

  2. At last weeks cabinet meeting a lady proposed that the councillors should give up 10% of their expenses to go into the fund set up by the council, they all nearly fainted; the same happened when Caven Vines proposed this weeks ago. One member was giving out all this information about where the victims could get counselling, at an earlier meeting some of the charities already doing this work stated they were running out of money and that on average they had a six months waiting list. Then this same numpty went on to state that they could go to their GP for help in getting counselling, this waiting time is even longer. Their was no mention of the council setting up counselling facilities or giving extra assistance to the charities. As is usual with Rotherham they just pay lip service to the problem.

      • Billings was “elected” on an 80% postal vote – any charity which considers accepting this money should be wary, for they may potentially be accused of being a party to obtaining pecuniary advantage by deception
