  1. Tut tut, and to think I thought she said that CSE should not be used by UKIP for political gain. The voters will see straight through this one.

    • What a short memory Sarah has …..”people in Rotherham who are saying this is absolutely disgusting , we don’t want you coming and trying to get elected off the back of the abuse that’s been going on in our town , I do find that funny” .. Sarah Champion is a hypocrite of the highest order and ought to be ashamed of herself… Source of quote http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-31166914 Just play the clip….. I hope the people of Rotherham do know what’s right and what’s wrong.

  2. Either this is a joke or Sarah is rapidly going off the rails and getting more and more desperate to be re elected.

“I campaigned to save our Surestart children’s centres”. So how did that go then Sara, successful were?

“I’ve saved our NHS from £20m cuts” How? I may have missed this but I don’t remember the Chancellor saying he was cutting NHS budgets so how could she have saved £20m?

“We need more positive politics and hope for the future, not a return to a Thatcherite Britain with another Tory Government propped up by UKIP”.

Oh right, suggest more positive politics then proceed to slag off the Tory party and UKIP. More hope for the future? So why drone on about someone, i.e. Thatcher, who was last in power 25 years ago? Labour Hypocrisy at its usual double standards of ‘do as I say and not as I do’ attitude.

“Since my election I have changed the law on grooming”. No you didn’t, you made a contribution to having the law changed by a Tory/Lib Den Government (in fact wasn’t it just one word that was changed)?. Sad she couldn’t even give the proper credit where it was due.

“A Labour Government will introduce an Australian style points system” (for immigration). Isn’t that what UKIP proposed?

“I employed a child abuse worker”. No you didn’t, the tax payer employs her (see Champions staffing expenses, her staff are paid for by the Taxpayer)

“UKIP Have supported ending new mums maternity pay for all and you MAY have your maternity pay cut ” No they haven’t, anyone listening to Steven Woolfe should be very clear that is not what UKIP want to do. Sarah is blatantly lying.

This leaflet is a cynical way of telling the electorate she has ticked all the boxes that will guarantee that the Labour sheep vote for her.

    Mention the evil Thatcher. Tick
Saying that the nasty Tories will join forces with the equally nasty UKIP. Tick
Promise to protect the NHS and stop it being privatised by the nasty Tories. Tick
Scare people by saying UKIP will charge for the NHS. Tick

Yep, Sarah’s ticked all the boxes with this one with her lies, scaremongering and false promises.

    • Badger, Sarah Champion was a vocal supporter of our community campaign to “Save our Sure Start Centres”. At the end of the public consultation the Council decided to keep open 3 more centres than its stated intention at the beginning of the consultation. Perhaps that was due to Roger Stone’s benevolence. I tend to think it was more likely due to our campaign, the 6,000 signature petition and the support of Sarah Champion. Perhaps it was due to UKIP’s involvement. Oh hang on a minute, they were silent on the issue. UKIP are also claiming credit for the successful campaign to keep Abbey School open. Another campaign that was run by the unions and the local community with no discernable support from UKIP.

Isn’t it true that Farage has stated that women are “worth less” to their employers after coming back from maternity leave and that EU proposals for better and longer maternity leave constitute “excessive regulation” and are a “ruinous exercise.”

I think this is what you are mis-interpreting:

        Click to access Removing-the-term-child-prostitute.pdf

        or maybe it this:
“On the BBC show last week, she was jubilant after getting one word changed in the grooming law, so that now police can intervene after they have proof someone has groomed a child once (and not twice, as before). This small victory was nine months in the making, she says.”

“I employed a child abuse worker”. No you didn’t, the tax payer employs her (see Champions staffing expenses, her staff are paid for by the Taxpayer)”
Jayne Senior’s employment contract is with Sarah Champion. That the funding that Sarah secured for this comes from the national purse is a totally separate matter.

But remember who allowed the exploitation to go on for years and are still allowing it to go on, why did it take so long for the labour mp’s to answer to the Jay report and why were two previous reports buried are the theft of the 21laptops still being investigated as the untimely death of pc Ali due to an accident lets get the victims the help they need not be used for electioneering

  3. UKIP seems to be getting under the Labour party’ skin. All the polls show the Tories have more support than UKIP so why is Miliband panicking?
No mention of the EU. No mention of reducing/scrapping subsidies to wealthy companies and landowners for erecting metal monstrosities (aka windmills) that blight our countryside and coasts.
Nothing about raising educational standards and no mention of how Labour will pay for extra nurses and doctors.
The Labour party must be very proud to have a Rotherham MP who (she says) single handedly ‘saved’ the NHS.

No I did not miss it . It is a soundbite. What Miliband actually says is he will increase taxes on tobacco companies and hedge funds as part of the funding to pay for extra nurses and doctors.
How will Miliband square this circle?:
‘Labour’s attempts to make the health service its key election weapon have suffered new blows with an attack from Tony Blair’s former health adviser and polls showing public dissatisfaction with the NHS at an all-time low.
Prof Paul Corrigan, a party heavyweight, said it would take two years for promised funding for the NHS to be raised through a “mansion tax” leaving an incoming Labour government with an immediate problem on its hands’.

I didn’t see Sarah or any of the Labour Councillors supporting the campaign

All I see are Labour Councillors still on the council who could not say they didn’t know according to The Jay report but chose to keep quiet and still are ?
The only Councillor who attended and as reported in the Jay report chose to say something is now a UKIP Councillor
And wasn’t Union’s represented on the children’s Scrutiny panels at that time

I also live in the Keppel ward which is the ward for Abbey School I petitioned all 3 councillors the only councillor who immediately replied was Dave Cutts the UKIP councillor he was beyond helpful and we spoke several times on the phone he got Caven Vines and his wife Maureen on board who went above and beyond and attended all the parents meetings. Maureen even asked for a judicial review on our behalf against the closure. Maggi Clarke and Barry Kaye ( Labour ) were less than useless they initially towed the party line that the school was inadequate and only got involved when several parents and staff who lived in their wards threatened to canvas against them in the May elections. So Robin Symonds get your facts straight i know where mine and a lot of other save abbey school votes will be going in May

  10. Sarah Champion saved the Sure Start Centres, What!!. The Labour led RMBC Council were proposing to cut (if my memory serves me right) 12 out of the 23 centres. The Council came under pressure from Mr Symonds Union and they were under severe pressure from the various people who stood up against them at the various Public Meetings. Dinnington Centre was only kept open after severe pressure from local people, and was a political decision because the then Cllr Falvy was up for Election. ( she lost anyway)
Then Rodger the Dodger went on to spin that they had “saved” three centres from closure, they still cut all the others.
They did not save any centres, THEY CUT THEM.
So Ms Champion, I now want you to explain how YOU saved the centres.

Unfortunatly we needed political clout that Mr Symonds is where LABOUR let us down they only supported us in the end cos they were running scared of the Casey report and we got pardoned on the last cabinet meeting that the ‘unfit for purpose’ lot sat on because we are still convinced that they wanted to be seen to the incoming commisioners as having listened when in fact all previous corrospondence from them proved otherwise sooner May comes the better Vote the lot of them out and with them Saint Sarah !!!!!

  13. 1st Timer, I didn’t tell anyone how to vote; I merely suggested they would be better off voting for TUSC than UKIP. There are 2 reasons for this: The TUSC candidate lead the Save Abbey School campaign and did a great job (long before UKIP jumped on the bandwagon) and Abbey Watcher acknowledges that fact and obviously respects him. Compared with UKIP’s candidate well there is no comparison. Secondly TUSC aren’t a racist party.

Voting TUSC will split the Labour vote and as I understand it TUSC and the Labour party are poles apart politically.

Miliband will be very cross about that. He might actually say something.

Unfortunatly even tho i greatly admire the TUSC candidate i am not a socialist and in part i agree with sweetcorn while ever TUSC goes under the banner of being affiliated to the TUC lots of people will see it as being Labour part 2 and altho i would like to vote for their candidate i cannot bring myself to vote for Labour in disguise the unions give millions every year to prop up the Labour party and as i have said before i will never vote for Labour again not even by the back door

    Like

    • Ah well, you’re entitled to your point of view and I would never try to convert anyone to socialism. I do however respectfully suggest that you look at the organisations that really contributed to the Abbey success IMO. The NUT, GMB and UNISON (yes, if you read Peter Bell’s report, which I’m sure you have, you will see that UNISON met with him and put across our reasons why Abbey should stay open) and of course the parents and children were instrumental in keeping the school open. The NUT and GMB played an infinitely bigger role than UKIP. Both those unions are affiliated to the TUC. The TUC is not the Labour party so I’m not altogether sure why you have a problem with the TUC. TUSC is not a trade union (it is a political party) and therefore is not affiliated to the TUC. I’m sure Pat M will be horrified that school support staff at a school he campaigned to save are intending to vote UKIP. UKIP represents everything that decent people like Pat M stand against.

  16. I’m going off topic-if Rik will indulge me?
“Because I happen to believe that UKIP is a racist party.” Everyone is entitled to a political viewpoint however the biggest racist in recent times is Tony Blair. How so?
He invaded Iraq because we needed to secure oil supplies-and he promised George W he’d help him.
Consider Zimbabwe under Mugabe who turned his country from breadbasket to basket case. He mistreated white citizens, stole their land and impoverished them, starved and murdered his own people and in the meantime swapped bauxite, nickel, copper and diamonds for arms and aid with the Chinese. Why didn’t Blair help the indigenous white citizens? Because Mugabe is one of the ‘Brothers’ and Blair thought he might be seen as an imperialist.
In Blairworld it’s OK to invade an Arab country to topple a dictator, save the inhabitants and secure vital raw materials but not OK to invade an African country for the same reasons.
    The Labour party also now faces criticism because of it’s anti-Israeli stance;
    http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/labour-funding-crisis-jewish-donors-drop-toxic-ed-miliband-9849299.html

    • For a non-racist party UKIP certainly attracts a lot of people who are racist. It is puzzling that Farage hasn’t sued Dr Alan Sked for defamation if the latter’s quote that he attributes to Farage is untrue. If it is true then Farage is a racist. Dave Froggatt, I said TUSC is not affiliated to the TUC, which it is not. I don’t know of any trades union that provides funding to TUSC. Obviously a good proportion of its members and candidates are trade union members so you may class that as a link I suppose.

Is that an indicator that more and more trade union members no longer feel represented by Labour? If so, shouldn’t the unions be listening to their members when they say that? Historically, Labour WAS the party of the unions, but as they’ve shifted more to the centre/ right of politics they’ve moved away from the unions and their members. The TUSC is still a tiny party, but there again so was UKIP not all that long ago. Food for thought I’d say.

  20. Trade unions are required by law to ballot their members every 10 years to determine whether they want to retain the political fund. I don’t know about other unions but UNISON’s political fund is split into 2 parts: the General Political Fund (that allows the union to campaign on issues like the Living Wage) and the Affiliated Political Fund (that goes to the Labour party). Members can opt to pay into one, both or neither political fund so in effect no member need contribute a penny to the Labour party if they don’t want to. Opting out is simple.
