  1. One the best candidates leaflets so far, because it states what he wants to do, what he’s has done and if he can’t he tell you striaght. No issues are duck. Hopes he gets elected, down to earth man for the working people…. And he isn’t the Labour candidate.

  2. Can we have a Mr Smith in all of our wards?

Labour have lost the plot, the new Commissioners are even worse than Stone.

UKIP support the new increased salaries for the new senior officers, vote for Green or for an Independent .

Time for change, get out there and vote!

  3. Is Dave trying to slip under the UKIP radar with a purple poster and as usual he can’t resist having a pop at UKIP. Why can’t Dave stand on his policies, rather than slagging off the opposition.

    • Part of a healthy debate is pointing out the inadequacies of the opposition, and remember what Jay and Casey said, The opposition, UKIP, fail in scrutiny of the ruling Labour Party. Hence CSE. He has shown, on numerous occasions , especially in Anston to be doing a good job representing the public.

      • Anonymous UKIP were given no positions on any committee by labour because labour want to be the ones who call the shots why could they not work with UKIP for the benefit of us all

    • But if Dave’s policies were that good, he would be able to just stick to the policies. I won’t vote for anybody who supports welfare dependency, I believe in people learning to fish and not being given fish. As for UKIP resisting Rotherham council, if they have only a third of the ward council members, Labour can just ignore them. That won’t be the case when they have another 10 ward council members.

Bleating about lack of numbers on the council, is no excuse for challenging council decisions, or in Rotherham case inaction over CSE. You fail, like the incumbents. Admit your failures and do a better job next time.

      • Another 10 would give UKIP 19 councillors. Labour would still be able to ignore them. If Labour retain at least 32 seats then they can still ignore the opposition if they wish. UKIP have proved to be ineffectual as an opposition and I can’t see that changing. It would be interesting to see how they’d fare if they were to become the ruling group.

      • You must be reading a different leaflet to the rest of us, at no point does Mr Smith state he supports Welfare Dependency, he does, however, state that he believes in The Welfare State… On the recent announcement of the possible wage increase UKIP are feeling “uncomfortable with it”, where’s the shouting it down..? The UKIP Candidate has never attended a Council Meeting in his capacity as a member of the public whereas Mr Smith has, on numerous occasions, and Mr Smith is within his rights to point this out as it shows that Mr Smith has a proven track record in asking questions of the Council… Coincidentally, the UKIP candidate in Dinnington has not attended any Town Council meetings as a member of the public either. UKIP are also making much of the fact that they dont have a Party Whip to follow like the Labour Party but my opinion is that will change if there are more UKIP Councillors…

      • Robin Symonds. Yes you are right, because I can’t see UKIP winning 20 seats to tip the balance. We will have to wait until next year. Cliff Top. I believe in companies paying a living wage of £10 a hour, but then I would get rid of the tax credits and all the other stupid benefits that top up people’s incomes. I would hammer any company that evades paying their fair share of tax to this country, it isn’t the governments duty to subsidise living standards. I agree that we should help people going through a rough patch, but some people choose to play on this all their life’s. Sometimes it is what people don’t say on a flyer, that the public need to be aware of. As for following party dogma, I would get rid of the Monarchy, which goes against UKIP.

  4. From what I see Mr Smith is the only one standing up for the electorate, UKIP have been found wanting over the pay of the new RMBC senior officers.

UKIP in Rotherham are in the same camp as Stone, then what do you you expect from a UKIP leader from a banking background.

Vote Green, or if you have the chance vote Smith!

    • Vote Greens and get ISIS according to Natalie Bennett. Is Natalie Bennett even a British citizen, I have no evidence she is one. As for the Greens, they would invite in even more uncontrolled immigration and build over the country.

      Like

      • As oppose to UKIP who would have a flood of immigration, as they don’t seem to have a coherent policy on the subject. Is it no immigration at all, the Australian system or 50,000 per year.

        Like

      • The policy is quite clear. The ceiling for immigration is 50K a year, but due to the points style, the number of people applying and being successful would be between 25K to 50K. We can’t control net migration, because we can’t control the number of people leaving the country, but we can control the number coming in. I believe the country is too over crowded, so if we have more going out than coming in, I won’t be disappointed.

  5. And so it happens.

Independents attack UKIP, UKIP attack the Greens etc etc and the really dangerous people sit on the side lines laughing while the only opposition we’ve had in Rotherham for generations rip into each other.

Disagreement is fine, discussing policies is fine but lets not forget who created the real problems in Rotherham!

On May 7th, perhaps the town will get a fresh start, somehow I doubt it.

  7. The UKIP candidate has just been confirmed as a candidate, so why should he attend the Dave Smith circus of Dinnington. When was the last performance???.
And Dave, if the UKIP councillors haven’t done enough in the past few month since the Casey report came out, how the hell are you going to change things at Rotherham on your own?
An independent councillor will not asked to join any committees, you may have your say, but in Robin Symonds own admission, Labour will ignore you. The problems with Rotherham lay at Labours door.

        • I strongly dislike Labour and UKIP. But not for an unfair reason. The reason I dislike Labour should be obvious for what they did in Rotherham. In terms of UKIP. Remember what Thatcher did to South Yorkshire & the North? Why would I vote a Thatcherite party? Whose candidates are regularly in trouble in the press for being racist/xenophobic, homophobic, elitist/classist (come on, Nigel Farage the ex-Wall Street investment banker is any different to the rest of em, really?), or just in general down right nasty. What even are their policies? It’s especially sad to see candidates on a local level shouting and balling about immigration and the EU, as though they can do anything about it on a local council. It’s political point scoring. It’s a joke. “This is my truth, tell me yours”… Now tell me what’s wrong with my policies.

Employment law gives no legal right to time off. I am not working and if elected as a borough councillor this would be my full time work. I do not have this issue next time round.

I and a vast majority of people who voted for UKIP in the last local elections in Rotherham are most likely to be from a mining background, so to be called a thatcherite would be a bloody insult. As for being a racist, I laugh at this insult too, I have friends from all over the world, of different cultures and creeds. It is time the racist card was ripped up. If you or anyone on here can prove to me that what has happened in Rotherham regarding the raping of our poor young girls was not carried out by a particular race. Then you MR INDEPENDANT call me an effing racist……..Because, that I am not……..That could have been my daughter/grand-daughters. Or even yours.

      • Waiting for that. Knew this was coming Robin Symonds….You and all the Labour voters are voting for a party that allowed our children to be brutally raped and trafficked and did nothing to protect them. you are a disgrace.

    • Thank you for putting words in to my mouth without providing any criticism of my policies. You can’t win an argument like that.

Child sexual exploitation was indeed predominantly carried out by Asian/Muslim gangs. However, this does not mean every member of the Muslim community is a rapist or a paedophile. Look at Operation Yew Tree. All those WHITE men involved in exploiting young girls. Does that make every white person a rapist? No, it doesn’t.

I never called you racist. I said you’re voting a racist, xenophobic, nasty little Thatcherite party. Think before you open your mouth perhaps. I may sound arrogant but it’s better than being ignorant. I’m talking sense and you’re spouting rubbish. If you were indeed from a mining background, unless you were a scab, you wouldn’t vote for Thatcher. So why vote for a man who wants to keep the flame of Thatcherism alive? I don’t expect you to answer my questions or provide a decent argument back, but you can have points for trying.

      • I indeed was a miner in two strikes, as were my father and his father. neither of us were scabs. But I don’t think even the men that went back to work would want to be called thatcherites either, as she ruined they’re lives too. The CSE in Rotherham was carried out by Pakistani heritage men. And no, not all Pakistani men were involved, and I think Nigel Farage would agree with me. Is this Racist????. The comments he made were some years ago. I wanted to kill my ex-wife some time ago, I’ve changed my mind now.
And as for voting for a racist, xenophobic, nasty little Thatcherite party.
Ten borough councillors got voted in by people like me last year.
Think on young man, because the people of Hellaby read this blog!!!

      • While I agree with you that not every Pakistani/Muslim in Rotherham is a rapist, and by the same token not every White men, because of Operation Yewtree. What happen in Rotherham and other towns was truly unique, as it was predominately the systematic targeting of young white girls, by another Race and Culture. The fact that this was over a considerable period of time and nobody and I mean nobody did anything to stop, in fact they tried to cover it up, was a total disgrace. The argument that because other races and cultures, may have been involved in similar outrages, no way excuse these heinous behaviour. There is a problem within this community which needs to be tackle and apologists, which there are many, not only do themselves a disservice , but hinder any meaningful attempts at the Pakistani/Muslims from dealing with their shame.

I’m talking about the havoc she caused here which has left South Yorkshire still to this day the 5th poorest area in Northern Europe, and Rotherham itself is one of the most deprived districts in the UK. So as her legacy lives on, why would you vote for someone who is a Thatcherite, when the effects of her policies still linger after all this time? That’s my argument.

Your comment is a sad reflection of how many people decide to vote now. Personalities, not policies. If I posed for a photograph with a fag and a pint in my hand would you vote for me then? The mind boggles..

I attended when and where possible, it is alright for the other lot who are born into money or have it, they don’t need to work. I was an 18 year old lad from a working class background who had to work to sustain myself, I have no automatic right to time off as a councillor. I think that’s an adequate response. Don’t you?

  11. Robin Symonds, if you think I am going to say ” no, I don’t think every person in Rotherham who vote labour this year are a disgrace”, then I am sorry to dis-appoint you, because I couldn’t bring myself to say it, knowing that this disgraceful band in Town Hall allowed it to go on for so long and then covered it up for fear of being called racist. Our children should have come before any other thing on Gods earth. They were let down horribly by Labour. If they are elected back in power on may the 7th 2015. Then Rotherham, you’ve got what you deserve.
