Robert Teal – Lib/Dem Rother Valley Constituency

Robert Teal, Prospective Parliamentary Candidate for Rother Valley  Constituency

DSC_0640Electing me as MP for Rother Valley would demonstrate to the world how the Constituency has moved on from the old days and old ways.

I would ensure Media interest focussed on economic opportunities and quality of life, instead of having to answer questions on what part I played (or didn’t play) in the child-grooming scandal.

Rotherham Politics readers will know just how embroiled the Labour Party is with the CSE scandal. Every attempt by the MPs to get the focus back onto the new AMP2 development or about transport links in the North will be hijacked by reporters seeking scandal and vice.

I’ve a record of fighting for Rotherham people against the Labour Hegemony

As Liberal Democrat candidate for Police and Crime commissioner I fought against Shaun Wright.

Those who followed the Rotherham Politics site had a good insight into his career building on the South Yorkshire Police Authority, seeking the role of Chair.

You knew how he became a Magistrate but immediately had to take a year off as he was taking on the role of Mayor of Rotherham: maybe you wondered why he didn’t put off being a Magistrate for a while? After all, a person knows they will be Mayor some time before they are enrobed…

And the final problem: becoming Chair of the RMBC Committee charged with safeguarding children…

You and I both thought surely someone in Labour will tell him that standing as Police and Crime Commissioner isn’t on? But stand he did and over 3000 Labour Party members voted for him, a clear indication that the Labour Party let themselves down.

And finally: Labour also let Shaun Wright down, allowing (encouraging?) him to stand and then stabbing him in the back when the inevitable contradictions of his past caught up with him.

I have in-depth knowledge of Rother Valley and Rotherham.

I’m a Director of Rotherham Enterprise Agency Limited, a social enterprise with the mission of helping Rotherham businesses start-up and then grow. REAL has an industrial estate in Bolton-upon-Dearne and other properties in and around Rotherham.

Over the three years I’ve been a Director we have improved our property portfolio by carefully investing in renovations. Presently occupation is over 90% and has been 100%.

Our next step is to investigate new property investments in the Rotherham area.

My first job in Training was with Roger Worth Training in Rotherham Town Centre. Even during the 90s the town was struggling to attract shoppers.

Rotherham MBC allowing Parkgate to be built before investing in the Centre was a fatal mistake.
Taking Rother Valley Forwards

I’m helping campaign to keep the proposed HS2 railway station at Meadowhall instead of The Wicker.

Paul Blomfield, the Labour Sheffield Central Parliamentary Candidate and incumbent MP has been pushing hard for the station to be built in the Wicker! With terrible transport links for Rother Valley constituents compared to Meadowhall, this option would cost over 1.3 BILLION more and add about 20 minutes to the journey time to London.

What is worse still is that the delay in deciding the station location seems to have led to HS2 making more progress on the Western side of the route. This could possibly lead to Manchester getting an HS2 connection to London before Leeds and Sheffield.

Understands Social Problems

During the 90’s I worked with unemployed adults in Rotherham, showing me how unemployment diminished individuals and how the system made unemployment pay more than work.

I sat as a Magistrate in South Yorkshire for four years, completing my accreditation and receiving certification of my competence.

Understands the NHS

I worked for the NHS in Sheffield when Labour were in power and saw front-line staff let down and money wasted fulfilling Government targets instead of focussing on caring.

Qualified and Experienced in Business

With a Degree in business, strategy, finance and economics I can talk the language of business, to business to bring employment to the area.

I have worked in private and public sector training and development, as well as owning several retail businesses. I recently sold a business in Barnsley Town Centre and have time to develop my other business and to campaign to be an MP!

Rother Valley can break with the past and look forward to the future with me as MP.

As someone who lives in Rother Vale / Valley and who travels regularly to London, I am happy without HS2, and if we do get stuck with it, the last thing I want is having to go all the way to Meadowhall to catch it. The WIcker is fine for me.

  2. This is the guy who at the hustings meeting in Aston was asked if he could live on a zero hour contract, after he stated yes he could he went on a rant that even the Tory and the UKIP candidate were shocked at. He may as well have given a short answer and stated all people not in a job are scroungers. I wonder how many of his employees are on zero hour contracts, he would fit in very well in coalition with the Conservatives.

Frankly I find that a little disturbing.

  4. A yellow Tory trying to make political gain from the rape and abuse of children, who would ever think that, would happen.

The yellow Tories supported the top down carve up of the NHS, the increase in tuition fees and the bedroom tax to name a few.

Yellow Tories, lower than a snake’s belly.

  5. Ah robert teal, from my home town of barnsley. Formerly stood for crime commissioner when wright was elected. His experience in business comes from owning a couple of newsagents that he presides over like a modern day arkwright. He’s a complete tool that loves the sound of his own voice.
