2015 a more complex picture?

Add just a little more detail, and a much more complex picture emerges of this years election results.

These results were also affected by the increased turnout caused by the General Election. Local issues, were simply ‘drowned out’ by the National campaign on television and the print and online media.

Thus it was that Labour were able to avoid being held to account, for their abject failures, resulting in the Commissioners taken over all of the functions of our, ‘not fit for purpose Council’ and ruling Labour Group, in contiuous power since 1974!

  1. It simply doesn’t follow that local issues were drowned out by national issues – after all UKIP made much play of the local issues in both their local AND national campaigns.

Yet they still didn’t manage their much heralded breakthrough, even with a national swing AGAINST Labour!

I guess that demonstrates that the real issue behind Labour’s success in Rotherham was that as well as focusing on the future with a fresh slate of candidates, the opposition they faced weren’t really up to much! Trololol!

    • If you look at the Conservative’s performance, those voters came out in large numbers and stayed loyal and a higher percentage of loyal labour voters also voted.
When the turnout falls, many seats will change hands, most probably to UKIP. Rother Valley Constituency contains the largest number of these risky seats.
