Government freezes rail upgrades and replaces Network Rail boss

Patrick McLoughlin, the transport secretary, said the government had “paused” electrification of the Midland mainline from London to Sheffield, and the TransPennine route between Manchester and Leeds that connects major cities across the north, after Network Rail’s costs spiralled and it missed targets. ”

  1. Soddin sponging consultants, politicians, executives, etc. etc. – all of ’em self serving sh*tes.

I’ve just helped a relative onto the train in Sheffield and what fiasco – couldn’t find a place for her single suitcase, jam packed carriage and not exactly the most pristine environment from walking into the station.

Powerhouse, don’t make me laugh, as for HS2, classic case of ‘all fur coat and no knickers’.

  2. So what’s new – Gobsorne is a liar, he doesn’t give a toss what ‘false promises’ he makes, so long as he and his mates are soaking up the tax payers’ dosh.
