New jury to hear trial of ex-Rotherham mayor for alleged sex assault
The jury in the trial of a former Rotherham mayor accused of carrying out a historic sexual assault on a 13-year-old girl have been discharged.
Recorder Jonathan Bennett discharged the jury in the trial of Barry Dodson at Sheffield Crown Court this morning.
He said it had been brought to the court’s attention today that one juror had an ‘important family commitment’ over two days later this week.

Not to seem picky or anything, but how does this story differ from this one: https://rotherhampolitics.wordpress.com/2015/08/04/jury-discharged-in-trial-of-ex-rotherham-mayor-for-alleged-sex-assault/
I’ve noticed this happens a lot on the blog, multiple posts all telling us the exact same thing. Got to say it’s a little bit annoying reading through an entire blog post with all the links, to then go to the next post and find out it’s covering exactly the same story. Why not edit them together?

I appreciate your frustrations but as a rolling news blog it is bound to happen with some stories.
When one article is published, I cannot predict further developments.
I will give some thought to your point, as there must be a way of avoiding the worst of the issues you highlight.
I will try a different approach from tomorrow.
Thanks very much for your comment. Rik.

No problem Rik, it was just that the first story already said that a new jury was to be appointed, the one above doesn’t really add anything to that. But I know what you mean, sometimes a story develops over the course of a day, or indeed a number of days. The blog might not be perfect, but it’s plain enough that people are taking notice, including the Council. Keep up the good work.
