Rotherham grooming victim was used to settle abuser’s debts, jury told

One of the teenage victims of a major grooming ring uncovered by police in Rotherham was forced into sexual relations with men on an almost daily basis and used as a commodity to settle her abuser’s debts, a court has heard.

The girl, who was in and out of care from the age of 12, was allegedly taken around the country and made to perform sexual acts on many men, becoming pregnant twice, once when she was only 14.

She had just turned 16 and was still in the care of the local authority when she was forced into sexual relations on almost a daily basis, the jury was told. She terminated the first pregnancy but later gave birth to a boy who was looked after by her mother.

  1. In 2010 & 2012, Police operations in a certain town, culminated in a number of people being arrested, charged and convicted, in particular the 2010 one. Yet somehow, we are being asked to believe, that a group of people, currently having differculties in a certain jurisdiction, were not even on the radar. How is that possiable ?

      • Doesn’t matter what order it came up, hopefully justice will prevail. Am wondering if those vigilant folk from Rotherham council, Police and our all seeing MPS, are getting more and more squeamish, everyday. Always thought that we never got the full story from Jay and Casey, this must be the worst nightmare , they’ve been waiting for. It simple doesn’t get any better.

      • I’ll concede that, but they have avoided the subject like the plague. The BBC report these events apparently under duress, which is the general point. A student of the framing of the reports would observe the lack of racial profiling of the perpetrators and the victims. The editorial team in Leeds (and elsewhere) have amassed a plethora of euphemisms and neutral language to distract the viewer from a subject they are loath to report on. There was, for example, no follow up commentary from the studio. This morning the subject was covered but it will have a much less frequent or regular exposure than say the recent suicide of the transgender prisoner and the impact on trans people in general and how the law must addressed to redress the problems associated with such cases et cetera. Considering the army of journalists and reporters that we fund at huge cost, some only appearing once or twice a month one wonders what they do and are they worth the expense, especially considering the BBC’s duty to impartiality.

      • As predicted the national and local print media carries the story on but Look North lapses back to on message safe features and news. Political ‘editor’ Tingle unpicking the Gordian knot of power station demise. Keep up the good work.

  4. Yet the people of Rotherham endorsed the local labour party at the last election, the people of Rotherham should be totally ashamed. They voted Labour because their dads did and their sense of entitlement, they deserve what they get as a community.

… and there certainly is one on this site with one of the accused. So what?

      – but in my opinion Ms Champion is the best thing that has happened to Rotherham in many years.

      • And your opinion on here counts for what exactly, I can see why you like this shallow excuse of a representative of the people, she blows with the wind, wherever there is a cheap photo opportunity, a few lines the editor of the local rag needs to fill his columns with or even an appearance on TV, she’ll be hogging it.

Must be depressing reading though about her one time bedfellows, exemplary behaviour towards little white girls. No matter what she does or says, deep down she knew it was going on.

Am waiting for the Adcademy award performance, when these matters are concluded. Will the heroin on her steed be claiming credit or blaming others.

  5. It might be timely to remind readers of one of the comments posted on the Rotherham/Bradford Politics blog.

This little gem was part of a much longer rant posted January 2013.

Finally I challenge anyone to produce a single piece of evidence to support the outrageous allegations that ” certain aggressive cllrs stopped investigation” These allegations are total lies.

The blog also seemed to be the torch bearer for elements of the Rotherham taxi trade.

  6. Was the Rotherham Bradford blog part of a much wider and well coordinated strategy to undermine the efforts by this blog to raise awareness of the crimes being committed against children in Rotherham?
The Rotherham Bradford blog posted what I would describe as a particularly threatening and intimidating video by someone called the Terminator, credit to Rik he stayed on the case and continued to report on the crimes being committed against children in Rotherham.
If you read the Rotherham Bradford blog, last updated some time ago you will note the support given to the Rotherham taxi trade and Labour politicos.
It would be interesting to find out who was actually behind the blog and what their motives were at a time when the police were starting to take CSE seriously.

I don`t think this breaks any rules, the Rotherham Bradford blog is in the public domain.
