Child sex abuse trial: “Arshid Hussain tried to protect girl from rape”
THE BARRISTER representing alleged child abuser Arshid Hussain has told a court his client was not involved in the molesting of a 13-year-old girl at a flat and actually tried to protect her.
Tahir Khan QC, acting for Hussain, also known as Ash, cross-examined the alleged victim, now 30-years-old at Sheffield Crown Court today.
In a police interview last year, she said Hussain drove her to a flat in Sheffield in the early hours of one morning in 1998 or 1999.

ALLEGED child abusers Arshid and Basharat Hussain used violence to groom their victims, a court heard today.
One complainant, who cannot be named for legal reasons, described in a police interview how the brothers would put her down and make her feel like “property” while grooming her for sex.
On one occasion the woman had to go to hospital after having her head pushed into a pub window.

LAWYERS acting for alleged pimp and abuser Basharat Hussain have accused a former girlfriend, who claims he assaulted and threatened to kill her, of making the incidents up.
Ms Gillian Batts said the 30-year-old woman, who admits an on-and-off relationship with Hussain from age 15 to 28, fabricated the events after seeing a BBC Panorama programme about his brother, co-defendant Arshid Hussain.

A GIRL of 13 or 14 was raped in a flat after being picked up and pimped by men in Rotherham, a court heard today.
The alleged victim, now a 29-year-old woman, described to police underage sex and an attempted gang rape in a Sheffield flat.
