Rotherham abuse trial: Abduction charge dropped against Arshid Hussain

One of the charges against an alleged ringleader of a Rotherham child grooming ring has been dropped – because a council-approved foster carer allowed an underage girl to go with the defendant.

A jury at Sheffield Crown Court was directed to find Arshid Hussain not guilty of one count of abduction of a 15-year-old girl when she was in foster care.

The charge had said the alleged offence had involved ‘repeat offending of the same kind’ by Hussain between November 1999 and June 2001.

He was accused of taking the girl ‘out of the possession of her parent or guardian against their will’.

Child sex abuse trial: Arshid Hussain: Grooming claims “completely wrong”

THE alleged ring-leader of a child sex abuse gang has admitted that he was “no angel” but denied committing the 28 crimes he is charged with.

Arshid Hussain (40) appeared in court today for the first time since his trial alongside four other men and two women began in December.

Hussain — who called the claims against him “completely wrong” — has previously appeared via videolink from his bed at home in Goole due to his medical condition.
