Child sex abuse trial: Qurban Ali denies he is “Blind Ash”

ALLEGED child sex abuser Qurban Ali has told a court he is not the man referred to as Blind Ash that a woman said raped her and gave her heroin.

Qurban Ali (53), of Clough Road, is charged with four offences against one girl between 1993-1995, including conspiracy to rape, indecent assault and procuring a woman to become a common prostitute.

The alleged victim, aged 36, claimed Ali was Karen MacGregor’s boyfriend, both the defendants deny ever being in a relationship, he gave her heroin at her home and brought his nephew, co-accused Arshid Hussain, to MacGregor’s address.

Surely it is irrelevant whether Qurban Ali believes he is “blind ash” or not… the fact remains if any of the alleged victims point the man out as the man who committed the offences it does not matter what his name is…..for instance… if a witness was to point at some one they believed was called Mark who they had seen kill some one ..would he get off because his name was John ?.
