Man accused of Muslim pensioner murder refuses to give evidence
A man accused of murdering a Muslim pensioner in a racist attack has refused to give evidence in his defence.
Dale Jones, who is jointly accused of killing 81-year-old Mushin Ahmed with Damien Hunt, elected not to answer questions at Sheffield Crown Court about his role in the fatal attack in Rotherham last August.
Murder accused “lied to protect family”
MURDER suspect Damien Hunt sobbed as he told police his account of how his “f****** nutcase” friend fatally attacked an 81-year-old pensioner.
Hunt (30), of Doncaster Road, Dalton, told officers arresting him for assault that he was in bed when Mushin Ahmed was viciously beaten in the street, last August 10.
DNA “indicates murder accused Damien Hunt punched OAP in the mouth”
A FORENSIC expert has told a court DNA evidence points to murder suspect Damien Hunt punching victim Mushin Ahmed in the mouth.
Valerie Tomlinson said she found a “mixed DNA profile”, matching both Mr Ahmed and Hunt, on Mr Ahmed’s broken false teeth.
Hunt (30), of Doncaster Road in Clifton, denies punching Mr Ahmed — he claims he tried to stop co-defendant Dale Jones attacking the pensioner last August 10.
Probation officer “taken aback by murder suspect’s racist beliefs”
MURDER suspect Dale Jones once told a probation officer he thought all Pakistanis were rapists, a court heard.
Jones (30), of East Bawtry Road, had admitted a public order offence in March 2015, for which he was given a supervision order.
He made his “racist belief” apparent to probation officer Alisdair Kirkpatrick, while discussing his violent offending.
