  1. Nice to see they are endorsed by a guy with libel lawyers in tow.
I expect they will do as they are told by the leadership and follow the Labour tradition of accepting a local dictatorial leader.

  2. Its really funny how litter picking and fly tipping seems central, other than a litter pick for her last election campaign by Jo Burton, I have seen little of this in the past. The litter pick was used in my opinion to get some free publicity in the local paper. It looks very much as though they are trying to leach of the back of something I have tried to get off the ground in S25 and see political gain in it. As for Kevin Barron his office is only 1 minute from the most polluted land in Dinnington and he won’t walk across and have a chat with me about it. More sound bites with no substance, The Labour party is toxic enough as it is.

  3. I read the notes tagged on the end with interest. I recognise the style of writing and I am quite certain who it is. Anyway back the jottings. I, as a resident, was quite concerned about working full time and being a borough councillor. I rang Jonathan using the parish council contact number and posed the question. He states that he actually works part-time on a fixed shift flexible working pattern. Also the civil service allows 18 days or 140 hours special leave for local authority service and 6 days special leave for voluntary public service, such as parish council. Plenty of time to attend all council meetings with plenty left over for committee meetings. What concerned next was why did the author make this up? So there you have it. I hope our fellow bloggers find this correct information useful.

  4. I think what Anon is getting at and he is correct to ask the question is
If you work say for Barnsley Council and are an elected member on Rotherham Council claiming a full allowance
When you get lots of time off from Barnsley Council your main employer to attend Council duties
Do Barnsley council pay you your full salary or do they deduct off your council time
Interesting if they pay you full salary then the tax payer is paying you twice ??

  5. Not a bad living wage if they get full sallary from one council you work for ( or should I say employed by ) and around ÂŁ15,000 plus from RMBC

  6. First big mistake, All three posing outside the Parish Hall. They did not ask, nor gain permission from the owners of the private land they are standing on. Who owns the land ?, Anston Parish Council Recreation Ground ( the Charity). Political Parties are not allowed to use Charitable facilities to further their Election nor to gain a political advantage. Better still Cllr Ireland just happens to be a Representative Trustee of the very charity he is abusing. Tut Tut.

    • This is three LABOUR CANDIDATES photographed carrying out an ILLEGAL ACTIVITY. Anston Parish Council, as trustees to the Charity must insist that this photograph is removed from ALL Labour party campaign material IMMEDIATLY. If they refuse then the Police must be informed and the three candidates must withdraw their nominations. Does Anston & Woodsetts residents really want to vote for these people who think that they are above the law? Criminal activity & RMBC? Now, where have I heard that before.

    • The people of Anston own the recreation ground. The charity and trustees manage this public land and facility on behalf of the people of Anston. Another correction is that charities are not actively allowed to promote candidates. This is a public facility owned by the public and only managed by the charity, therefore s.thornton you are wrong again.

  7. Stuart, they are Labour, they are allowed to exactly as they want in this Labour dictatorship. I certainly won’t be voting for this shower of the usual excrement! Neither will I be voting for the waste of space and money, Billings.

  8. Why is Billings using his commissioner tax payers funded official office website on his election leaflet I was under the impression you could not use the tax payers funded official office for election material
Surely the Police Commissioner should know the Law

  10. Lauren Astbury claiming she will be a strong voice is the biggest load of rubbish i have ever read. I have attended council meetings since the 2015 election and she hasn’t asked a question or commented in a debate in any Full Council meeting since then. I have asked more questions than she has and hecklers have made more comments than she has! Hellaby clearly decided they wanted no more of her so she has been given to Anston and Woodsetts like a present you don’t really want from someone you know doesn’t like you (The Labour Party). I urge the residents of the ward, do not vote for Labour. They promise you “change” but they are already in a position to make that change, they haven’t made it any they never will! They didn’t make it better under the Blair or Brown years and now blame the Tories for the mess we’re all in. They won’t provide change. To get change you must change who you vote for and that means voting UKIP. You waste your vote with the Tories and Greens.

This election is the last for 4 years to make that positive change for the area. Let’s see that change. Vote UKIP on May 5th.

    • You forgot to mention the Independent candidates (of which there are two standing in Anston Woodsetts this year), would voting Independent be a wasted vote too in your opinion? If so, why?

  11. If I remember right it was UKIP who gave up seats on committees to allow Independents to sit on committees and allow them to contribute so it shows that UKIP and Independents can work together for the common cause of sorting out the labour unfit for purpos councillors
Only time labour had to give up seats was when the independents formed a small group and claimed seats in their own right

  12. Hi,

I don’t usually comment on this sort of stuff. I just felt like It might be worthwhile because I understand many people read material here on Rotherham Politics and I didn’t want any misinformation about me on the Web.

I’m Katherine Wilson one of the candidates for Anston and Woodsetts. I’d like to state that I joined the Labour Party in 2015, so I don’t know why it’s been mentioned that I joined in January as that is not the case.

In addition, VĂ©lez is my mum’s surname, Spanish. Spanish naming customs use two surnames howver I’ve never used it on anything including my Passport, etc.

I’m open to any questions or quieres that anyone might have for me.

    Sincerely,
    Katherine
