BREAKING: First arrest in historic CSE investigation

INVESTIGATORS from the National Crime Agency have made their first arrest this morning of a man connected to historic child sex abuse in Rotherham.

The man was arrested in the town on suspicion of rape, two offences of supplying class A and B substances and physical assault, all believed to have taken place against a girl aged under 16.

The arrest was made by National Crime Agency officers from Operation Stovewood who are investigating non-familial child sexual exploitation and abuse in Rotherham between 1997-2013.

Officers involved in a multi-million pound investigation into the Rotherham abuse scandal have made their first arrest.

National Crime Agency officers arrested a man in Rotherham on Wednesday morning in connection with its Operation Stovewood investigation into child sexual exploitation in the town between 1997 and 2013.

The man was arrested on suspicion of rape, two offences of supplying class A and B substances and physical assault.

First arrest in Rotherham child abuse investigation

A man has been arrested in Rotherham in connection with a National Crime Agency (NCA) investigation into historical child sexual exploitation and abuse.

He was arrested on suspicion of rape, supplying class A and B substances and assault, all believed to have taken place against a girl aged under 16.

The arrest is the first made as part of the operation, the agency said.

Operation Stovewood is investigating non-familial sexual abuse in the South Yorkshire town between 1997 and 2013.
