A MAN arrested in Rotherham for suspected child rape as part of an investigation into child sex abuse in the town has been bailed.

National Crime Agency (NCA) officers arrested the man in Rotherham on Thursday.

He is the fourth person arrested in connection with Operation Stovewood, which is examining non-familial child sexual exploitation and abuse (CSEA) in the town between 1997 and 2013

A MAN has been arrested in Rotherham for suspected child rape as part of an investigation into child sex abuse in the town.

Rotherham man arrested as part of major child sexual exploitation investigation

A MAN was arrested this afternoon as part of the National Crime Agency investigation into child sexual exploitation and abuse in Rotherham between 1997 and 2013.

The man, who was arrested in Rotherham, has been taken to a police station in South Yorkshire where he will be interviewed by crime agency officers.

He was arrested on suspicion of a rape, which is believed to have taken place against a girl aged under 16.

The arrest is part of the ongoing Operation Stovewood but no further information about people arrested is being provided.

A total of four arrests have now been made as part of the operation.

Operation Stovewood is investigating alleged crimes in the same time period covered by the Jay report, which estimated there had been at least 1,400 victims of child sexual exploitation in Rotherham over a 16-year period.

  1. More bad news for the local Labour Party, The Advertiser today reports that a serving RMBC Councillor has been charged with sexual assault. Cllr Andrew Roddison (Labour Councillor for Brinsworth & Catcliffe ward) is to appear before Rotherham Magistrates Court on Thursday the 14th of July. The complainant is believed to be a fellow Councillor.

  2. This makes the site but a Rotherham man who got sentenced this week for exploiting and raping girls as young as five doesn’t. I’m trying to figure it out…
