It seems quite clear that ‘rothpol’ is read in Whitehall. After my suggestion last week to encourage the Home Secretary to appoint Alexis Jay or Louise Casey to this prestigious post it’s finally happened.
I only hope the ‘Sir Humphrey’s’ securely ensconced in their civil service bubble are made aware that Alexis Jay doesn’t take prisoners and her remit gives her full authority to ask anyone anything.

Sorry to be cynical , but “they” have had lots of time now to cover their tracks and “lose” documents.
It was failrly obvious at its inception that Prof “tell-it-like-it-is” Jay should have been appointed.
She will have her job cut out, dealing with the shambolic inquiry as it is now.
The problem with this inquiry is it has been deliberately designed to be all-encompassing, presumably with the intention of making it impossible to manage.
What is actually needed is seperate inquiries, because the abuse can be categorised.
The national network of CSE groomers based upon extended-family and Biradari contacts is entirely different from the (alleged) Westminster paedophile network based upon Dolphin Square and Elm Guest House. Both of course involve police corruption and the (alleged ) Westminster Ring of senior politicians also includes (alleged) political intervention.
Of course, Social Services and the lax attitudes resulting in the neglect of ” looked-after children ” is also involved in both cases.
There are of course other issues, but to attempt to cover the diverse nature of the various facets of CSE in a single inquiry is virtually impossible.
