Councillors at Rotherham Council are to discuss the re-routing of the High Speed (HS2) rail line through the borough next week after a motion was proposed in opposition to the changes, and the £55.7 billion scheme.
Construction on HS2, the high speed North to South rail link that aims to provide extra capacity to handle increasing demand, will begin during this Parliament and has been given a funding envelope of £55.7 billion in 2015 prices. It should reach Birmingham in 2026 and Manchester and Leeds by 2033

BOROUGH councillors will be given the chance next week to show their position on the controversial new proposed HS2 rail route.
There will be a vote on the issue at the next full meeting of Rotherham Borough Council on Wednesday.

A penny to a pinch of salt the Labour drones will not oppose HS2.
The Supreme Leader and RMBC will also be outvoted by Sheffield councillors and as the SCR is looming on the horizon Read will not jeopardise his chances of a share of the
bribery money forthcoming from HM Treasury.
The proposal will be outvoted because it is authored by a UKIP councillor and that cannot be allowed to happen in the new improved (?) RMBC.

Strong allegation going around that the Council will drop resistance to the proposal if Rotherham gets a station near the Bramley/M18 juction

When this hit the fan, the only thing Healey came out with was ‘there’s no station on this route’. Eh?
Unsurprisingly, he missed the point that the ‘route’ was NOT wanted so he shifted his lack lustre ‘ramblings’ afterwards was his means of ‘supporting’ Rotherham Council tax payers.
Maybe this explains why he had put house up for sale in March? Did he know something the rest of us didn’t? His silence is telling.

I wonder how the Boy Blunder Beck will explain to the residents of Wales how the HS2 line which will pass under School Road will benefit them? Or will he abandon his party line and vote with Cllr.Turner?

Are we sure the new Government will not pull the plug on this white elephant anyway? Encouraging signs given the scepticism over Chinese involvement in Hinckley Point. I cannot be the only one to see how savings from HS2 could be used to replace Chinese cash….

I have not seen anything in the HS2 proposals that convinces me Rotherham will derive any lasting benefits if-and when-this elitist and expensive train set is built.

Creating more of a brain drain from the North is going to help us and getting home 30 minutes quicker isn’t a big deal if you have to travel to and from London on a day trip. What we need is a balanced economy across the UK. The South benefiting from Investment banking and the North from Warehouses importing goods and Shops is naive to say the least. Modern clean industry creates real wealth.
