A woman who says she was repeatedly raped as a 13-year-old in Rotherham said her experiences as a child have ‘destroyed’ her life.
The woman, giving evidence for the third day at Sheffield Crown Court, said she or her parents had not made any financial gain from her speaking about her experiences.
The court has previously heard she first made allegations to police of being repeatedly raped and physically attacked as a 13-year-old girl in 2003 but no case proceeded. She spoke again to officers in 2013, leading to a new investigation.
Child sex abuse trial: Defendants “destroyed who I was”
A WOMAN told a jury she has fought for 13 years and refused to “go away” because the men on trial for exploiting her when she was a teenager “destroyed” her.
The woman, now 27, has been giving evidence over three days at Sheffield Crown Court where eight men are on trial for a number of sexual offences against her said to have been carried out in 2003 when she was 13.
Second Rotherham Trial at Sheffield Crown Court:
Please note, this is an ongoing trial and it is very difficult therefore for readers to make a comment that could be published without falling foul of legal constraints designed to ensure a fair trial.
For those who make comments I cannot approve at the moment, should keep those ideas until the verdicts are out, Rik.
