ROTHER Valley MP Kevin Barron will face no further action and can return to chairing two Commons committees despite an investigation concluding that he breached Parliamentary rules.
Mr Barron, then chairman of the Parliamentary Standards Committee and the Committee of Privileges, referred himself to the Parliamentary Commissioner on Standards last year following newspaper allegations that he had organised two dinners and a breakfast in Parliament for the Japanese Pharmaceutical Group.

Standards watchdog broke rules by taking cash for dinners in parliament
The chairman of the Commons standards committee avoided censure today after he was found to have breached the House code of conduct.
Sir Kevin Barron was judged to have broken the rules by accepting payment for hosting events for a Japanese drugs firm in parliament. The violation was deemed to be “minor” and an “inadvertent error”, however, and no further action was recommended.
The fees the Labour MP for Rother Valley received from the company after sponsoring two dinners and one breakfast on the Westminster estate were donated to charity.

The Labour MP in charge of overseeing ethical standards for MPs has been found to have breached a House of Commons code of conduct.
Sir Kevin Barron, the chairman of the standards committee, accepted payment for hosting events for a drug company in Parliament.
However, the committee has recommended that no further action is required against Sir Kevin after they concluded that the breach had been “minor” and “inadvertent”.
