Ten cleared over Wellgate disorder

TEN Asian men have been cleared of violent disorder after a right-wing protest and counter protest descended into chaos.

Jurors at Sheffield Crown Court took just over seven-and–a-half hours to find all of the men not guilty following a four-week trial.

Rotherham men cleared over violent protest clash

Ten men have been found not guilty of violent disorder following rival demonstrations in Rotherham.

The men were charged after clashes between far-right groups and anti-fascist campaigners in September 2015.

During the six-week trial at Sheffield Crown Court CCTV footage of the clash between a group of white men and a group of mainly Asian men was shown.

The footage showed the two groups fighting in the street before the police intervened.

CALLS have been made for an independent inquiry into the police’s handling of a case which saw ten men acquitted of violent disorder today.

The Asian men were charged after rival protests took place in Rotherham town centre on September 5, 2015 in the wake of the child abuse scandal.

Ten men acquitted of violent disorder in Rotherham case that provoked campaign in support of them across South Yorkshire

Campaigners have called for an inquiry into the actions of South Yorkshire police after 10 Asian men, who fought with far-right extremists after attending an anti-racism protest in Rotherham, were cleared of violent disorder.

The verdict at Sheffield crown court was greeted by applause from the public gallery. The case had provoked a major campaign across South Yorkshire in support of the men, which was backed by the Orgreave and Hillsborough Truth and Justice campaigns.

Calls for inquiry after 10 Asian men cleared of violent disorder following Rotherham clashes.

Ten Asian men who were cleared of violent disorder following clashes in the wake of two rival demonstrations in Rotherham have called for an inquiry into why they were prosecuted.

The men said the police and Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) should have protected them rather than put them on trial.

Rotherham 12 jury delivers not guilty verdicts for all Asian men on trial

The jury in the trial of the Rotherham 12 has today, Wednesday, delivered not guilty verdicts for all men who stood trial.

The Rotherham 12 are a group of Asian men who were charged with violent disorder following a peaceful anti-racist protest against the Nazi Britain First.

Abrar Javid was one of those acquitted. He told Socialist Worker, “This is a landmark victory – it’s unprecedented.

“I think it will send a clear message that we have rights. Justice has prevailed.”

  1. …..and why, if they knew there were a bunch of neo-nazis in the William Fry pub, why were dispersing demonstrators channeled down past the pub.?
