Councillor handed restraining order and curfew for groping colleague
CONVICTED Andrew Roddison has quit as a councillor, it emerged today, as he was sentenced for squeezing another elected member’s bottom.
The ex-Brinsworth and Catcliffe ward member (41) was given a community order with a night-time curfew by a judge at Leeds Magistrates’ Court.

This is the extract from Roddison’s ‘Declaration of Interest’ he made as councillor and found on the RMBC website:
‘I am a governor at Brinsworth Whitehill School
I am a Parish Councillor of Catcliffe Parish Council
I am a member of the Labour Party
I am a trustee of the Cash for Kids Charity that is run by Hallam FM
I am on the district executive of the Rotherham Scout Council’.

I hope he has been stopped being allowed to work /take part in all the above!
He might not have sexual interests in young children but i think an attractive young 16-18 year old girl will take his eye and turn his head.
I been in the company of this man and it’s in his nature to pass a sexual comment.

The councillor victim of Roddison will also have found it so very hard but truth has prevailed. It must stop.

The “Cash for KIds” charity ceased to exist in May 2010 – when its funds were transferred to another charity.

… and as far as I can tell, he couldn’t have been a Trustee of the Hallam FM charity in 2013, ‘cos it had ceased to exist over 3 years earlier!

Well maybe, but what is more concerning is that there is clearly no scrutiny of these Register of Interest documents; even though I see it was signed off by a Ms J Collins Monitoring Officer, RMBC.
(It took me no more than 5 minutes to dig up the facts on that Charity)
Just to add, The Register of Interests was typed up and turned into a pdf in September 2014

Very interesting it has some historical importance, maybe no rules were broken!
Maybe what isn’t broken really needs fixing to provide communities with greater protection, from elected so and so’s.
