Rotherham police officer dismissed for drug use

A POLICE officer based in Rotherham has been sacked after testing positive for cocaine.

Julian Broddle, a PC who was based at Rotherham Police Station, accepted he had breached the Standards of Professional Behaviour and committed gross misconduct.

In March, former professional footballer Broddle (52) was called to the Professional Standards Department (PSD) of South Yorkshire Police for a random drugs test and his urine tested positive for cocaine. Further tests confirmed his use of the drug.

Ex-footballer turned South Yorkshire Police officer sacked for ‘regular abuse’ of cocaine

A South Yorkshire Police officer who was a ‘regular abuser of cocaine’ has been sacked this afternoon.

PC Julian Broddle, aged 52, a former professional footballer who played for Sheffield United and Barnsley and was a member of the Raith Rovers side that famously beat Celtic to win the 1994 Scottish League Cup final.

At a misconduct hearing in Chapeltown, DCI Deb Mahmood said Broddle was selected for a random drug and alcohol test in March, with a urine sample providing ‘irrefutable evidence’ of cocaine use within the past few days.

Footballer turned South Yorkshire Police officer sacked for drug use

A former professional footballer turned police officer has been sacked after testing positive for cocaine.

PC Julian Broddle’s use of the class A substance came to light following a random drug and alcohol test.

A misconduct hearing heard the South Yorkshire officer, who won the Scottish League Cup with Raith Rovers in 1994, was a “regular abuser” of cocaine.

Chief Constable Steven Watson said he had “no doubt” the appropriate sanction was to dismiss him immediately.

South Yorkshire Police special constable dismissed for ‘racist and puerile’ Facebook posts

A South Yorkshire Police special constable has been sacked after making ‘racist and puerile’ Facebook posts.

Special Constable Oliver Paduch, an unpaid volunteer for the force, was reported to South Yorkshire Police’s Professional Standards Department by a colleague concerned about what he was putting online.

Paduch wrote in March under a picture of a black man ‘I heard this n**** a Crip’ – an apparent reference to a notorious Los Angeles street gang.

  1. So SYP discover one of their own is a “smack head”, he does not turn up for his hearing, and nothing is said. and shock, horror, no apparent investigation to capture the persons who he was committing illegal acts with.
    SYP reputation just gets lower and lower.
