Over 150 South Yorkshire police officers apply for redundancy

Over 150 police officers have applied to leave South Yorkshire Police as part of a voluntary redundancy scheme.

Bosses recently offered officers the chance to leave the force and 154 applied for voluntary redundancy before the window closed.

The idea behind the redundancy programme is to cut costs by allowing older officers on higher wages to leave the force, providing an opportunity for new bobbies on lower salaries to join.

    I’m assuming the ones involved in dodgy dealing on CSE will be looking at this scheme with some interest.

    How many will that leave ? About 10 or 15 ?? Presumably the ones under investigation re CSE will not “get lost” to the investigating authorities in this mass departure !

    I hope that this is not another gravy train. Officers leaving on a Friday with a huge pay off, and a big pension. Then on Monday Morning turn up as a civvy, to exactly the same job at a slightly lower rate, and starting to contribute to yet another pension.
