Rotherham scandal girls ‘sang and danced hearing of Corrie’s grooming storyline’

Coronation Street actor Chris Harper has said some of the girls in the Rotherham child sexual exploitation scandal started singing and dancing when they heard the ITV soap would be tackling grooming.

The actor, 39, met with abuse victims as he prepared for the storyline in which his character Nathan Curtis dupes schoolgirl Bethany Platt (Lucy Fallon) into a relationship and starts pimping her out to his friends.

He said on This Morning: “I’ve met some incredibly strong people. Some of the girls from the Rotherham case, for example.

    I wonder how realistic the story lines will be ?….. will they portray the abusers as mainly pakistani muslim men as is the case up and down the country ……I won’t hold my breath.

    I applaud “Corrie” for attempting to cover grooming in the UK but to set the storyline with a “non ethnic” group at it’s centre belies the truth of the danger, as Rotherham and towns and cities across the country know only too well ! I feel the producers may have “caved in” to the Thought Police represented by the Liberal Lefties who allowed CSE to flourish for decades in the name of “community cohesion”, a concept which is clearly flawed given the facts we are all aware of !
    Nice try Corrie, but no cigar.
