Rotherham Labour MPs Take Further Legal Action Against Jane Collins MEP To Exact Payment of £54K Damages Each

“On 6 February the Royal Courts of Justice awarded damages of £54K each to Sir Kevin Barron MP, John Healey MP and Sarah Champion MP as a result of comments made by Jane Collins MEP regarding the sexual exploitation of 1,400 children in Rotherham.

The Courts also ordered Ms Collins to make an additional interim payment of £120K to the MPs to cover their legal costs.

Today in Hull the 3 Labour MPs attempted to exact payment of these significant amounts from Ms Collins. The Hull Court ordered that the MPs could not present a petition for bankruptcy against Ms Collins until 8 June. The Hull Court denied the MPs legal costs.

In attempting to obtain the monies awarded to them Sir Kevin Barron MP, John Healey MP and Sarah Champion MP have also applied to the Royal Courts of Justice for a hearing at which Ms Collins will be questioned regarding her finances.”

UKIP MEP Jane Collins ‘facing bankruptcy’ over damages

A UKIP MEP could face bankruptcy after she failed to pay damages to three MPs over remarks she made about the Rotherham child abuse scandal.

Jane Collins was told to pay £358,000 in damages and costs in February after being sued for libel and slander.

But, she appeared in court in Hull earlier on Monday after failing to pay.

A spokeswoman for Ms Collins said after the hearing that she will face bankruptcy proceedings if it is found that she cannot make the payments owed.

Ukip is a busted flush so that can’t be the motivation.

    Is it the money then?

I thought they would be committed to defending health of people as they promote wellbeing?

Ms collins was only stating what many local people and labour party members think with the MPs close links to those who knew.

But if Ms Collins goes Bankcrupt like I beleive Mr Vines had to then who is paying their eye watering legal costs ? Could it be they were backed by the Labour Party or have they got donations from the legal firms representing them

  4. Alex says:

The protestations about pursuing the defamation action only to restore their reputations seem rather hollow now.
It is also a rather intriguing coincidence that the three MPs took legal action against their political rivals immediately before the 2015 general election and appear to have suddenly renewed it the moment another general election was called. Anyone disenchanted with politicians might view it as a blatant abuse of the courts for political advantage and utterly contemptible.
UKIP might even cling to the forlorn hope that Labour in Rotherham still consider themselves vulnerable.

    • Me says:

I think Steel and Shamash made a donation to one of the MP’s or to the Labour Party.

It should be traceable if any newspaper wants to investigate.

  5. megajules says:

And meantime, Kevin Barron KNEW about the libel and slander that was carried out against me by both Sheffield Hallam University and Rotherham College of Arts and Technology, and did NOTHING about it! He also KNEW about the clinical negligence in respect of my brother’s death, and did NOTHING about that either! I asked for his help in all of these things, but that help was not forthcoming.

    • Truth and injustice says:

Who’s paying? Is it the Labour Party?
      £250k plus. Who’s paying ?

      Maybe it’s the vaMPIres

Saint Sarah has gone very quiet.

  6. Caven vines says:

Yes they did Steel and Shamash gave John Healey a donation of over £14,000
And it was Steel and Shamash who represented them all in both liable cases and it was matrix chambers who supplied the barristers
I am led to beleive that this chambers was set up by Mrs Blair the wife of Tony no less

    • Left leg says:

That wud figure. Healey and barrun are both empty blairites full of platitudes with no substance

      • Truth and injustice says:

Then vote them out. BARRON patch. Get new guys in.

        • megajules says:

If voting them out were possible, it would have been done. I’ve lived in Barron’s constituency all of my life, and I seriously don’t know of anything he has done for this community, yet the people around here just keep on voting for the man. Political awareness is almost none existent, there’s a lot of noise, but nothing much is understood. I’ve asked the question on social media, “what has Kevin Barron done for this community that warrants getting a knighthood?” I didn’t get a single reply.

    • reg reader says:

      Caven,
Cherie Blair QC was just one of the group of Barristers who set up Matrix in 1999.
