Rotherham is turning the tables on its past after being lined up for a prestigious employer of the year award.
Rotherham Council has been shortlisted for the Best Social Work Employer of the Year prize in the acclaimed Social Worker of the Year Awards 2017 as a result of their outstanding work with vulnerable children.
The Council has been singled out following its successful social work recruitment drive – which has led to more social workers than ever before wanting to come and work in Rotherham.
Really!
And no doubt they’ll all be swanning off on a jolly to collect the contrived award.

The cost of a table of 10 at an awards event is about £650 – less than the cost of an agency worker for a week or two – see comment below.

This is very good news for the children in Rotherham – it will attract more social workers to apply for jobs meaning less agency and more continuity of care/support etc

Of course they are nominated to be ‘ social work employer of the year ‘.
What other employer would give you a big fat pension , a big fat golden goodbye payment and cover up your incompetence and non-caring attitude for you by throwing cover-up money at expensive lawyers ?
Who wouldn’t like to work for such an employer ?

The reason they have recruited more Social Workers is because the ones they had, either left because of the way they were being treated, or had to leave because they did not do their job in the first place. They recruited more Social Workers, because they were told to do so, by the Commissioners who were brought in to sort out the mess.
If the Commissioners allow these people to go and collect an award, then questions need to be asked.

Rotherham Council should be holding their head in shame rather than spending money on jollies. Any kind of award for these corrupt clowns in an insult to every hard working resident in the borough and the 1400 girls they failed.

I wouldn’t criticise Ian Thomas for doing his best in Rotherham but all the new employees will be paid from our local taxes.
