Labour’s Diane Abbott criticises Sheffield MP Jared O’Mara for offensive comments

Shadow Home Secretary, Diane Abbott, today branded comments made by Sheffield MP Jared O’Mara as ‘unacceptable’ and claimed the sort of language used ‘demeans and diminishes all women’.

Sheffield Hallam MP, Jared O’Mara, was suspended by the Labour Party on Wednesday, while an investigation into a string of homophobic and misogynistic comments he is alleged to have posted online before becoming MP takes place.

Mr O’Mara, who unseated former Liberal Democrat leader, Nick Clegg, in June’s General Election, has apologised for online remarks from 2002 and 2004 but denies some more recent claims.

Speaking on the Andrew Marr show this morning, Ms Abbott criticised comments made by Mr O’Mara.

  1. ‘Ms Abbott said she was not aware of the Labour Party being informed of Mr O’Mara’s a month ago, as has been reported nationally.’

On Thursday night Shami Chakrabarti told Question Time Labour dealt with Jared O’Mara as soon as they became aware of the allegations last week. Diane Abbott repeated this line on Marr this morning. It isn’t true.

Abbott is trying to cover up the lack of action against O’Mara by Corbyn.

  2. Quite amusing to see “(J)Abbott The Hut ” comments from her high horse about a fellow MP’s offensive comments given the number of anti white racist comments she has uttered over the years !
“Pot” , “Kettle” and “Black” springs to mind !!
