A prominent BBC sports presenter has been suspended after it was claimed that he groped female colleagues.
George Riley, a Radio 5 Live rugby league expert, was taken off the schedules this weekend after several women came forward with allegations of harassment. The BBC has begun an internal inquiry led by Carol Ann Kinley-Smith, a former Metropolitan Police detective who leads the corporation’s security and investigations team.
Mr Riley, 39, had been due to anchor coverage of the Wales v Papua New Guinea match in the rugby league World Cup on Saturday, but did not appear. He joined 5 Live in 2004 and frequently appears on the breakfast show. He has also reported on athletics, darts and snooker, and previously co-hosted Football League Tonight, Channel 5’s football highlights show.
