Sex scandal will ‘clear out’ more MPs, Amber Rudd warns, as inquiry into Damian Green begins

More ministers are likely to be sacked over the Westminster sexual harassment scandal, Home secretary Amber Rudd has warned as it emerged new victims may be​ preparing to come forward with claims about Damian Green.

The scandal took another turn on Sunday when Chris Pincher, a Government whip, referred himself to the police and to his party’s disciplinary panel over claims that he had propositioned a former Olympic rower in a bathrobe.

Theresa May, the Prime Minister, will meet on Monday with Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn, Liberal Democrat leader Vince Cable and House of Commons speaker John Bercow to try to get ahead of the crisis and set up formal structures to protect women.

Tory whip steps down as more MPs are caught up in harassment scandal

Conservative MP Chris Pincher has “voluntarily stood down” from the whips’ office and referred himself to the party’s complaints procedure and the police following an allegation about his behaviour, a Downing Street spokesman said.

The move came after two other Conservative MPs, Dan Poulter and Daniel Kawczynski, were referred to the party’s new internal party disciplinary system, it was announced on Sunday.

It means that four MPs will now be investigated under the process, announced by Theresa May last week. Stephen Crabb, the former pensions secretary, was referred on Saturday after admitting he sent suggestive text messages to a teenager.

Tory whip Chris Pincher has been accused of hitting on an Olympic rower while dressed in his bathrobe “like a pound shop Harvey Weinstein”.

The Tamworth MP allegedly made sexual advances at Alex Story, who competed in the 1996 Atlanta Olympics, after persuading him to go back to his London home in 2001.

A Tory whip has referred himself to the police after he was accused of making an unwanted pass at former Olympic rower and Conservative activist Alex Story while dressed in a bathrobe.

Chris Pincher has stepped down from the Whips Office after he denied the allegation after the athlete claimed he had come across as a “pound shop Harvey Weinstein”.

He has since “voluntarily” referred himself both to the Conservative Party’s complaints procedure and the Police.

A former health minister is being investigated by after another Tory MP accused him of putting his hand up female MPs skirts.

Dan Poulter, who has served as the MP for Central Suffolk and North Ipswich since 2010, has been referred to the Conservative party’s disciplinary committee.

Andrew Bridgen, the Tory MP for North West Leicestershire, said that he had chosen to “call out the alleged inappropriate behaviour” of his colleague.

Sleaze allegations will lead to clear out of sexual harassment, says Rudd

The wave of sleaze allegations sweeping Parliament will lead to a “clear-out” of sexual harassment at Westminster, Home Secretary Amber Rudd has said.

Ms Rudd insisted the end result of the spate of claims about inappropriate behaviour that has rocked politics will be positive.

The Home Secretary told BBC One’s The Andrew Marr Show: “I think it is something that will take place in terms of clearing out Westminster of that sort of behaviour.
