Man sentenced for indecent image offences

Jon Bryan RoslingA 44-year-old man has been given a suspended jail sentence and a three-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) after admitting making indecent images of children.

Jon Bryan Rosling (right), of Sunnyside, Rotherham, appeared before Sheffield Crown Court on Monday 27 November to be sentenced after pleading guilty to three indecent image offences at a court hearing in June this year.

He was sentenced to 30-weeks in prison, suspended for two years, as well as given a three-year SHPO and placed on the Sex Offenders’ Register for ten years.

Rosling was arrested by police in May 2016, after information was received that indecent images were being viewed on a device that was traced to his home address. His electronic devices were seized and forensically examined by specialist officers, revealing indecent images of children.

He was charged with making 122 Category C images (the lowest level of indecent image classification), 21 Category B images, and two Category A images (the most serious and extreme classification).

Investigating officer DC Lee Walker said: “I am pleased that Rosling has accepted responsibility for his criminal behaviour and he will now be subject to strict conditions.

“If he breaches his SHPO, this is a criminal offence and could result in his suspended jail term being activated.

“Indecent image offences are harmful and pose a risk to our communities.

“We are committed to investigating crimes of this nature and have a dedicated team whose sole purpose it is to identify individuals who make, possess and distribute indecent images of children, to apprehend them and bring them before court.”

  1. This vile example of humanity has just got smacked with a wet bus ticket for making the most extreme images of child pornography for goodness sake, and Britain wonders why CSE is through the roof.
By contrast, I just read of a NZ farmer on holiday in Singapore under the influence of a few drinks thought it funny to brush against a barmaids breasts while handing her payment. By accident of course. And now he’s whining like a baby, lost 11 kg’s and blood pressure through the roof, poor man ,in the luxury of a Singaporian jail for 6 months.
If Britain wants to be serious in tackling CSE , a good place to start is following Singapore’s example…..
I doubt Singapore has very many Harvey Winesteins and guess why !

    • Jon Rosling taught for 10 years in two Rotherham Primary schools and a for year in a primary school in Doncaster.

He was also named on the list of LEA governors to RMBC schools (Flanderwell primary and Wickersley school to name two) within the Cabinet’s Safeguarding policy and provision.

Wasn’t he elwcted as Labour councillor for Siverwood in 2015?

      • It is very telling that this piece of human slime was a RMBC councillor during the time of the CSE investigation. ( 10 years I believe) He must have felt quite safe in the company of his fellow councillors….Nobody in the council able to pick an obvious bad ass when they rub shoulders on a regular basis. Just as a matter of interest , I wonder if he was one of the councillors celebrating a night of porn with councillor Atkins… What decent upstanding people in the seats of Rotherham Town Hall.

        • Thanks for the correction Rik…..I get so mad at this kind of thing I go off the deep-end so to speak. I think the facts are he was a teacher for 10 years…. Help, that’s even worse….!

        • @Kryptos… Hi, It shouldn’t be difficult to find how he celebrated his appointment to council. Simply ask him and those who attended and joined in the fun. ( not all who were invited were impressed)… One of his functions is leader the Rotherham ‘Child Friendly’ group. Yes… that’s right….
If the folk who attended Atkins diabolical celebration were also councillors you might also conclude why the CSE was ignored for so long…..All the best in your search for truth Kryptos it shouldn’t be hard to find it was no secret at the time…..

        • Hi Linda, thanks for your further update. I do think Cllr Atkin should now comment on why he likes to watch at such stuff and just who he watches so stuff with so we have a full list of Cllr participants. We can then put it to Cllr Read to ask for his opinion of these people that he chooses to reward with further tax payer remuneration and how he manges to justify without feeling sick.

  2. I currently can’t access either the South Yorkshire Police website or the Rotherham Advertiser article regarding Jon Rosling and this conviction… funny that.

  3. Yes he was a Labour mp in 2015.I think the same year that he taught as a supply teacher at my daughters school. And my daughters class. 145 indecent images of children and a suspended sentence. Wheres the justice. He even was encouraged by the school to do video work with children. I want an enquiry

Think you’ll find that Jon Rosling was elected Labour councillor for Silverwood in 2015 but he was never an MP.
No doubt the Labour Party will have kicked him out but stranger things have happened……….
It gets worse, so he’s been working as a supply teacher over the years, no doubt to eke out his ‘creative’ earnings?
RMBC needs to hold an urgent investigation into the schools and classes he has had access to and on a detailed chronological basis.
More importantly, I am sure the National College for Teaching and Leadership would appreciate being informed of Jon Rosling’s sentence.

  5. Which is worse; Rosling’s porn or Grayling’s porn? OK, I accept Rosling had images of children stored on his computer and Grayling (it is alleged) had adult porn on his but both these men have,or had positions of responsibility.
It has gone very quiet in the Labour party concerning Rosling but yet they manage fake outrage over Grayling.
    ‘Nuff said.

  6. Good to see that The Rotherham Advertiser has reinstated their link to this story on their website so as not to bow to any form of censorship.

  7. Just noticed that SYP have also reinstated the link to this story.

Outrageous that both SYP and the Tiser took down the link last night without thinking their actions through.

  9. After reading the reports in The Rotherham Advertiser and on this blog of this terrible crime involving young children, I feel that questions need to be asked about why it has taken so long for this story to emerge. The Advertiser reports that Jon Rosling was arrested “last May” – does this refer to May 2016 or May 2017? In either case, this article has taken an awful long time to be brought to the public’s attention – was this being covered up by the Labour group in an attempt to protect Rosling? Were the Advertiser and SYP subjected to pressure to take their reports down? By whom and why? Why should Jon Rosling’s identity and reputation (following his conviction) be protected? After all, the CSE trials have all been reported with names and identities of those convicted and sentenced – did Rosling think he should have been treated differently? Are his crimes of lesser importance than theirs? Has he been supply teaching during this period?

Whilst I do feel for Jon Rosling’s wife, children and family as a result of his actions, they are not to blame but I do feel that for justice to be done, it has to be seen to be done.

  10. Whoops! Just read the Police story where it is reported that Jon Rosling was arrested in May 2016 but otherwise my comments still stand.

    • Well 50% strong feelings indeed, but well said. Both the Advertiser and Chris Read should tell us why their response was so slow and why no one is ever accountable. Mr Read will no doubt be quick to condemn the Tories but will never hold his own flock to account. Not ever, not no how, not nowhere!!
