Pressure on UKIP leader over girlfriend’s Meghan Markle’s texts
UKIP leader Henry Bolton is under pressure to resign after his girlfriend was suspended by the party for apparently making racist remarks about Meghan Markle.
Jo Marney apologised in the Mail on Sunday for saying Prince Harry’s fiancee would “taint” the Royal Family and black people were ugly.
Party members are urging Mr Bolton to step aside “quickly” and “quietly”.
He has not responded but retweeted a message urging him not to quit.
Ms Marney, a 25-year-old model, claimed her texts, published by the paper, were taken out of context.
When the story makes it number one story and stays there, the outcome is inevitable.

Mr Bolton, 54, has faced growing calls to step down since the Mail revealed he had left his third wife for the model and Ukip member.
The pressure intensified yesterday when Miss Marney was suspended from the party over a series of racist messages in which she branded black people as ‘ugly’ and warned that Meghan Markle’s genes would ‘taint our royal family’.
Today the Mail can reveal Miss Marney has plumbed even further depths with horrific messages in which she joked with a friend about raping a baby.
Ukip leader ‘to choose party or girlfriend’
Ukip’s chairman has increased the pressure on his party’s embattled leader, Henry Bolton, whose girlfriend has been suspended as a member for making racist remarks about Meghan Markle.
Mr Bolton, 54, was already facing calls from senior colleagues to quit after it emerged that he had left his third wife for Jo Marney, 25. She is under investigation by Ukip after she sent a series of messages to a friend in which she made offensive comments about Prince Harry’s fiancée. Ms Markle, as a “black American”, would “taint” the royal family and pave the way for a black king, Ms Marney said in the messages, according to The Mail on Sunday.

Meghan text storm leaves Ukip leader Henry Bolton on brink
UKIP’S leader will need to ditch his lover to save his job after she sent racist text messages about Prince Harry’s fiancée, the party’s chairman has hinted.
Henry Bolton, 54, needs to decide how to ‘help remedy the situation’, Paul Oakden said as 25-year-old Jo Marney’s remarks about Meghan Markle emerged.
‘Henry is increasingly in a position where he has got some difficult decisions to make,’ Mr Oakden said. ‘I’m sure whatever he does will be in the best interests of the party.’
Ukip MEP Bill Etheridge said: ‘It appears to me that the lack of experience in politics from Henry has got the better of him. We are seeing Ukip resources used to defend Henry’s private life.
‘He must go, he must go quickly, he must go as quietly as possible.’
