KERBSIDE collections of plastic waste have been added to RMBC’s budget plans — but council tax will rise by nearly six per cent.
The 2.99 per cent increase in the basic tax rate will include £965,000 for the additional recycling, which had been initially dismissed over cost.
The other three per cent of the rise will be ring-fenced to meet the growing cost of adult social care.
Rotherham Borough Council faces Government cuts of £15.1 million in the 12 months to April and published its budget plans today.
The term ‘tosspots caught in the headlights’ springs immediately to mind

They pay for experts to tell them what to do
They tell residents what they WILL do
Then they change the minds and listen to voters concerns and residents wishes…

If they raised the 3% last year for care, and do it again this year, ( on top of the money they usually allocate for care) how come the Social Services are cr*p ?? what are they doing with all that money

Have you spotted the smokescreen yet ??.
Three years ago they announced that the Sure Start Centres were to close, then they said they had rescued half of them. Fooled you all, everyone was diverted away from the Council Tax hike.
Last year they said all the Lollypop ladies were being scraped. They then back tracked and saved a few. Fooled you all, everyone was diverted away from the council tax hike.
This year its the bins, then we “listened to the public” and relented to look at Plastic recycling. Fooled you all, everyone was diverted away from the council tax hike.
Have I spotted a pattern ?.
I wonder what will happen next year.

maybe they used the council tax hike to pay for the services that would have otherwise been cut?
