Planning decision to come just weeks after green belt site opened up for housing

Planners are being asked to approve a development of homes in a field on the edge of a Rotherham village just weeks after the site was taken out of the green belt and opened up for development.

The scheme would involve demolishing a bungalow in Winney Hill at Harthill and using a field behind the site to create an estate of 24 homes – a number which has been reduced from an original plan to build 27 houses, to give a greater buffer between the homes and surrounding green belt.
